Re: Byram in play
Only way this really makes sense is if Faulk is headed out and Byram slots in at RD (which he has done plenty in the past). I’d be wary of the return personally. That would be an improvement but what’s the cost? Don’t know that I want to lose another good forward prospect immediately after Bolduc.

Why does everyone think we csn trade faulk to buffalo? Butfalo is on most teams no trade list.

I don’t think we could. It would probably have to be a separate move. I can’t imagine he’d waive to go to the Sabres.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 15:55 pm Why does everyone think we csn trade faulk to buffalo? Butfalo is on most teams no trade list.

Re: Byram in play
I just don’t get the infatuation with Byram. “But he’s played the right side!” Not well though! Buffalo only put him there because they for some reason acquired Byram when they already had Dahlin and Power (two 1st overall picks) on the left side. Anything I’ve read from Buffalo fans has said that Byram is much better on the left side.
So maybe we play him on the left side then? But it’d have to be the 3rd pairing (or one of Faulk or Broberg plays 3rd pairing) but none of those 3 guys seems to make sense playing 3rd pairing. They all “deserve” to be in a top-4 role.
I just don’t see Byram as much of a need. He really hasn’t been that great and has some pretty bad concussion issues as well.

I am wondering why we need more defensive players at the cost of young offensive players. Geez, this team had a great young core coming up and Army already game away one piece e for nothing.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 17:04 pm I just don’t get the infatuation with Byram. “But he’s played the right side!” Not well though! You know this how?
I'm not thrilled with the Bolduc trade but I have hopes DA & Company knows what we do not readily know.

I heard a lot of that when Pronger was acquired.dhsux wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 17:24 pmFor nothing?rezero wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 17:19 pmI am wondering why we need more defensive players at the cost of young offensive players. Re: Byram in play
What's the big deal about Byram? Is he a good defense guy? The next JBow? His numbers seem pretty pedestrian and he's average sized. What's the big deal about this guy? Why do the Blues want him now?
Re: Byram in play
4th OA pick. Just turned 24. Excellent skater, solid defensively with good offensive skill. 22min a night for Buffalo and +11. Same age as Broberg, but entered the league much sooner due to how good he is. Blues want him because he's available and fits in our age group. Risk is that he's had concussions.

Re: Byram in play
Because he’s an excellent player and fits what the Blues are looking for in terms of style of play and the age group. There is a lot of potential in him. Risk is there as well but he did play all 82 games last year.
Re: Byram in play
While I largely agree, we acquired Faulk with nowhere to play him because we liked the player and foresaw need. Not trying to relitigate that situation (or even say I think it would be smart move to add Byram given what you describe), but it doesn’t feel out of character for Army.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 17:04 pm I just don’t get the infatuation with Byram. “But he’s played the right side!” Not well though! It would also in some ways mirror the Leopold and Bouwmeester moves a bit. Folks assumed we were done going after JayBo when we acquired Leopold, and then Armstrong just got both. ROR and Bozak were like that as well.Blueston wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 19:54 pmWhile I largely agree, we acquired Faulk with nowhere to play him because we liked the player and foresaw need. I’m just not sure I want to deal away more prospects right now after Bolduc, at least not the 1st round guys I’m sure Buffalo would want.

People really forget how much critique Pronger got in those early years.DawgDad wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 17:40 pmI heard a lot of that when Pronger was acquired.dhsux wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 17:24 pmFor nothing?rezero wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 17:19 pmI am wondering why we need more defensive players at the cost of young offensive players.
