Byram and the Blues still a hot rumor

This deal is not dead. Buffalo wants to clear him out and I really like the idea of bringing him into St Louis. However, we are set at the left side. It would be nice to get Byram and flip Faulk to San Jose, but that just creates a hole for the Blues since Faulk is a righty. Also, Faulk has a 15 team no trade clause, which I have to believe Buffalo and San Jose are on that list. I read on a different post that Buffalo would take a prospect and a draft pick. The article below is talking Jake Neighbors. I don't want to Byram enough to trade Neighbors.

sabres are in a tough spot...sure they would want neighbors but they won't get him. He does not want to be there and everyone knows it. I would rather not get him and save the money and re-sign fowler but if we did, i think a 1st, texier, kessel and jiricek would have to do it. otherwise move on.

On 101 they said he could play either side. So, say Faulk goes and he comes, he would probably play on the right side with Broberg this year. Then next, Fowler is gone and he and Broberg are top two LD, with Parayko and Mailloux the top 2 on the right. The top 4 set for quote a while.

They may work out something that includes Faulk, a prospect and possibly some draft compensation but the Blues are not trading Neighbours, the future captain.

Byram is certainly an interesting player. I just don't think he's quite at that top pay level. And i don't think Faulk is going to go the other way because he can control his own fate, which even if we in theory have some cap room it probably will be south of Byram's number. I find it more likely that we stand pat unless there is a 3rd party involved in the deal that will take some of the cap off our hands that is in a competitive spot, which takes it down to like the Canes, Jets, Ducks, Wild, Kraken? anyone else with a good enough cap number to take on Faulks number would be nixed i'd think.

IMO, the only reason to get Byram would be if the Blues don't plan on signing Fowler after this year. Or if they perceive Tucker still a 7th dman.

The Blues do need someone to provide more insurance as the bottom pairing of Mailloux/Tucker is a little suspect. A Ryan Suter signing again would make some sense.

Byram does not make sense for the Blues and there is absolutely no friggin’ way we are giving up a lot to get him. If he was already signed to a long-term deal at $4 million, then maybe, but he isn’t, so he doesn’t work for us. I would say the same thing if he had never had a concussion before, but his concussion history is just icing on the cake.

I think the Blues are envisioning life without Fowler starting in 26-27 and see a future left side of Broberg, Byram and Lindstein. I feel like Byram would be a good to great add for us. I hope Army gets it done but it’s going to take at least one roster player….maybe it’s Torpo but who knows. If Army can get it done for Jiricek and picks…it’s a win.
