I don't know why anyone would actually claim him

Well said. Thing about Leddy, he has or had pretty good speed, at times looked good carrying the puck up ice. He's not without talent.skilles wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 10:21 amNone of them do, they are all absolute warriors but they are human warriors.
I'm around young adult athletes at that level alot. Its nothing like it looks from the outside, don't get me wrong it is a blessing at the same time and an incredible thing to watch but even the worst of them are absolute monsters. Calling any of them turds is just ignorant.

Re: Leddy on waivers
Mutual contract termination? I think we're a better team keeping him, but it appears the team has other plans, so perhaps we aren't better keeping Leddy, if the team has other plans. Speculation, based on appearance and Saad last year.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 21:04 pmAaand what if Leddy would rather just keep the $3M and doesn’t agree to terminate the contract? Then what?Sophisticated Shoes wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:45 pmStart looking, as I believe Leddy is done in STL. Waivers is just to see if someone will pick him up, and they could. If not, they'll end the contract, like Saad last year, and Leddy will sign for less elsewhere so he can play more than he anticipates in the new Blues D corps.Frank Barone wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:29 pmThis is reality talking here. If Leddy gets claimed, the Blues will need to find another starting LD.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 19:57 pmFunSeeker wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 19:05 pm Tucker was the best defenseman behind Fowler in the playoffs. If you want to throw Parayko in ahead of Tucker fine. Remember Monty loves Tucker and praised his offense. He was dominating out there, scared of nothing and built for playoff hockey. People here are forgetting what a loss it was when he blew out that knee in playoffs. Glad it wasn't as bad as it looked. He is a SOLID #5 defenseman for this season at his worst. Toughest guy on the team too.
I love Tucker for what he is but I found him to be an absolute train wreck defensively in the playoffs. He had a few good offensive moments but Winnipeg owned him as his feet just couldn’t keep up and he had trouble holding the blueline. That said, he was better than Suter. But whether it was Tucker or Suter, they both got caved in defensively against WPG in that series.
People forget that Tucker went through waivers unclaimed at the start of last season. JMO he maxes out as a #7 short term fill-in guy, like a Bortuzzo.

A stiff like Cody Ceci somehow got a 4-year contract for $4.5 mil/yr from Los Angeles. He’s right-handed, but he’s awful. So I would say there is a pretty decent chance that Leddy gets claimed, given that he only has one year left on his deal.

The list of Kings signings on UFA day is so classically Ken Holland it’s comical. Ceci, Dumoulin, Perry, ArmiaFrank Underwood wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 11:02 amNo kidding. Re: Leddy on waivers
Speaking of San Jose, I just saw that they signed Dmitri Orlov to a 2 year deal at $6.5 mil/season. He’ll be 34 in 3 weeks and he was a horrible defensive liability in the playoffs. Good grief.
Re: Leddy on waivers
They are definitely planning for at least one more year of tank. Think if they add McKenna to what they have!Frank Underwood wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 11:11 am Speaking of San Jose, I just saw that they signed Dmitri Orlov to a 2 year deal at $6.5 mil/season. Re: Leddy on waivers
Good result for all parties really.
San jose should be able to flip him for something come the deadline.
We save 4m against the cap.
Leddy gets to play.

Re: Leddy on waivers
This is good for both teams. The blues get below the cap and the sharks get above the floor.
The sharks will put him in a position to succeed, just like they did with cici and walman last year, getting points while ignoring the defensive aspect. Then come tdl desperate teams will offer a high pick for something that looks good and the sharks make out.
Getting a first for walman and getting a first for cici and grandlund were masterclass. Expect them to do the same with nick.

We were already below the Cap.so_crates wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 11:16 am This is good for both teams. The blues get below the cap and the sharks get above the floor.

We're currently sitting with 8.1 mil in cap space.
IF we were inclined to do it, we could make a decent run at another higher end UFA(Ehler's may be out of range, but we could probably snag Roslovic if we wanted to).
