4 weeks from today trade deadline at 5 PM

Post by ramfandan »

Exactly 4 weeks ( 28 days ) will be the MLB trade deadline at 5 PM (CT) .
Rather than predicting trades , what current Cardinal players do you feel will not be on the Cardinal roster after the deadline ?

I’d keep Maton. May be closer material. I’d add Mik to the right team to waive NTC.

I think you would have to pay to get Mik to go away..... sad, but probably true

In the off season, you couldn’t give him away. Then first half, value rockets. Now, cooling off.

He’d have to go to a team that is already playoff bound, just needing arms for only the stretch run. Not post season. He’d fit that role perfectly.

If this weekend goes south, then the "FOR SALE" sign goes up outside Busch Stadium.

-Fedde has to go ASAP

-Matz should be right behind him

-Mikolas too if anyone wants him and he'll waive the NTC (if he won't, then pen' or DFA)

-NADO could go IF M. Muncy is done for the season

No need to rush w/Helsley who will have a market till the last day of the deadline.

Helsley for sure

Praying Arenado goes

Matz, Mikolas and Fedde maybe depending on demand and return. I would think about keep ing Matz depending on other transactions.

I don't want them to trade Maton, but since he will be a FA at the end of the season, I think they will trade him. I would love for them to trade Mikolas, but I don't think any team will offer anything worth accepting.

Hey if Maton would assume the closer role, and do well, would his value rise significantly from being the eighth inning set up to closer. It’s his FA year.

I don't think the Cards are going to do a lot at the deadline. I don't see them trading Helsley or Maton, unless we fall way out of contention. If we are in the playoff conversation, I think both will be Cards. (As they should! You don't punt with the playoffs on reach, period.) I can see them adding a bullpen piece or possibly looking to add a guy with some control left for some of our surplus pieces (C, middle IF, and possibly OF). Not sure who'd they target, though?

I hope C. Bloom steps in and wants to give him a two year extension.

No way I deal him if Bloom wants him in 2026 and beyond.
