If Dvorsky isn’t on that 3rd line to start the season that would be extremely disappointing. I’m betting he’s gonna be there
I have to believe he will be. Getting that Thomas break-in! If not at the start, we will definitely see him at some point on that line imo...
Agree with both of you. It's time for a couple of these prospects whom have stood out in WJC games, Junior leagues and AHL to answer the bell similar to how Thomas was brought in. And for the concern about injury to any D-man, is there not a physical D in Springfield whom could withstand the rigors?
I really do not follow very closely beyond the Blues NHL roster. I'm relying on what I read from the various posters here. But I see other teams work in younger players 1 or 2 at a time for years with serious intent to give them a chance, and sometimes wonder. I'm not talking 18 & 19 year-olds. But I'm also not talking about only a few games.
On the D issue. Something is going to happen today. A lot of commentators keep insisting the Blues are in on Byram. Not sure I believe or understand but who knows? If we signed Bjugstad, hard to believe we are keeping both Joseph and texier. Interesting .

Lots of people seem surprised by that but its not surprising at all really, if Byram is available most of the league should be interested. No paying the price is a whole different thing.
I get the feeling Army is dead set on leaving this team 100% set up for the future and kind of gotten caught up in doing that.
After
Buch-Thomas-Snuggerud
Holloway-Schenn-Kyrou
Neighbors -Suter-Sunny
Torpochenko-Bjudstad-Joesph
Parayko-Fowler
Broberg-Faulk
Tucker-Mailloux
Here’s the way I see it- Bolduc’s got a ton of potential, no doubt, but Suter’s probably going to have the better year right now. He’s more experienced and just had a solid season. Adding Mailloux on the blue line gives us a young defenseman with serious upside who might make an impact right away. Faksa and Bjugstad are pretty even in my book, but Bjugstad might give us a bit more offense. All around, the “after” lineup feels stronger and more balanced. It’s a step in the right direction.

I'm hoping Dvorsky makes the cut from day 1 but I'm having trouble seeing it at the moment.
You have Tex, Joseph, Sunny, Walker, Toro, Bjugstad. That's already 6 guys for 4 spots plus the healthy scratch spots.
Yes I get we can easily solve that problem with waivers or whatever but it just feels like a big hill for him to climb.
Maybe we move a fringe vet F for a fringe vet D to balance things out a bit.
If Suter is 3C, I think it makes a ton of sense for Dvorsky to start the season on the wing. He's an all star at the AHL level, so I question how much more he can really do in the AHL. Plus, Suter is no stud in the faceoff dot - the Blues could have Dvorsky take some faceoffs and then move back to the wing position after the draw. It eases him into the center position and he gets exposure to a center who plays a 200 foot game.
I'd be curious if the Blues are entertaining that as an idea.
Best Case Scenario:
Dvorsky is ready for 2C which makes the 3rd line look so much better.
Broberg is healthy and progresses to join CP55 on the top pair.
The other Suter is re-signed to hold Mailloux's hand on the 3rd pair.

I think the concern with Dvorsky is lack of defense. He has been a minus player most of his career and in the Slovak league had the lowest +/- on the team. I think he needs to stay in Springfield until he understand that part of the game.

Probably not better but definitely not worse. Probably very similar.
+1. Suter and Bjudstad are nothing burgers.
This is either a really dumb troll job, or you don’t actually watch much hockey. Which of these guys do you want to be?
+1 to which guy are you?
Wild stuff. Bjudstad was a, just in case Suter fell through, signing. He is a nothing burger (big, but not physical, and slow). Suter was on a real sh#tty (dysfunctional) team and somebody had to get the points (with the quality ice time he got). He's on his 4th team in five yrs and will be back to his 30pts yrs here. Vancouver was thinking $2.5- 3m for the guy and aren't crying about losing him. And I'm not a fan of the trade. Some have Mailloux as the next Pronger; he was their 6th rated prospect and is known for the brainfarts on D (but hey, he's big). I just don't see us much better than last yr; when everyone was guishing over the Joseph's and Texier.
Again JMO
And if he's dum dum enough to move out Jake for Bryam that would be a cherry on top (in a bad way).
