Not retired - and travel quite a bit in my work.
Which is why I was delayed in contributing to this thread.
My 60th birthday is in the rear view mirror - though not by much.
I could retire if I were so inclined, but I still enjoy what I do and am very, very good at it.
I suppose I am a lot like a 40 year old pitcher who is still easily the ace of the staff and still enjoys dominating the competition.
To be frank, I think one thing which has badly damaged our society over the past generation is highly competent, highly productive people who embrace idleness when they still have much to contribute - and who become takers instead.
It is one thing to leave the field because a player can't compete with younger talent - it is quite another to walk away simply because one can.

So you’re basically either RFK jr or maybe Sue Reed.imetsatchelpaige wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 16:49 pm Happy birthday Red! We have (kind of) known each other for over 20 years...
I am still out there, running a pair of nonprofits and a noted national conservation campaign, attempting to change the world at 71. Results are mixed so far.
To quote Denzel Washington in Glory, "I ain't won yet."
I check CT in the morning, and occasionally through the day while I'm at my desk. I am often recording games, so my participation in the GDT threads, which is one of the highlights here, is uneven-although I do enjoy engaging. I'll often weigh in when I have caught up on the game, speeding through commercials and Brad Thompson's pablum.
I love the site, and like most of you here. I even engage with people with multiple screen names, severe personality disorders and schizophrenic edges (you know who you ares). I can be harsh with them sometimes- mea culpa.
To (again) quote Denzel from the same movie, "ain't nobody clean."

No, they have nothing to do with fishing.zbasspro wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 20:59 pmThe channels bass fishing related? Eight years in FL and no 10 pounder? My biggest in MO is 8.8. I spend a lot of time after Snook and Reds in the gulf now. They're a lot of fun. I really do miss the Meramec and smallmouths. But enjoy fishing down here year round.

I retired 3 years ago and float-fish the Meramec for smallmouth out of Garrisons maybe 10-12 times/year. We go during the week and especially after Labor Day.eddie stinky wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 09:15 amNo, they have nothing to do with fishing.zbasspro wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 20:59 pmThe channels bass fishing related? Since September 2023 I’ve got 2 18” and my buddy has 2 plus a 19” that was a little over 3 1/2 lbs.
Just went yesterday, got about 15 between us but nothing over 13”. Great way to spend a day!

I'm 68 yrs old & have been retired 6 yrs. I've been reading CT since around '02 or '03. When at home, I check in 4 or 5 times a day, depending if there's a hot topic being discussed.Adam2 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 07:59 am And if you are retired, how often do you check in on Cards Talk? Do you just leave it open on your computer and check a few times daily?
do you check once a day? just curious
I'm not retired, but i have 4 computer screens for work, and i usually leave CT on in the background screen and check maybe hourly
Re: How Many of You Here on Cards Talk are Retired?
Retired as soon as I hit full retirement age and the last 5 years have been great and wasn't one of those types that have to get a part time job because they are bored. I check this forum out once about every 3 days.

43 & not planning to retire anytime soon, unless my Powerball ticket for tomorrow night has other ideas. I post here now and again; when family & work allow for it.

Exactly what my boy and I do, although not as often, and in the heat. Guide on the Piney years ago told me the hotter it gets the better they bite, and it's held true for me. My son pulled a 4.1 out of that stretch last year.Bomber1 wrote: ↑15 Aug 2025 09:29 amI retired 3 years ago and float-fish the Meramec for smallmouth out of Garrisons maybe 10-12 times/year. I usually do really well on top, even in the middle of a 100 degree day.
