Re: Before and After lineups
There will be lots of mix and match in the beginning. I’m not so sure we don’t end up
Buchnevich Thomas Snuggerud
Holloway Suter Kyrou
Neighbours Bjugstad Schenn
Toropchenko Sunny Walker
Texier Joseph filling in.

I think you're being very optimistic with those numbers.rezero wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:06 pmAgree, Suter is a solid addition and a player we definitely needed. He will probably be a 17g/23a type player, but is a good 200’ player.
In a nutshell, our season hinges on Snuggerud being able to make a big step forward and possibly someone coming up from springfield who can add scoring on the 3rd line.
I think Suter is more of a 15g/15a type than a real 40 point guy. Don't get me wrong, he could certainly see a boost if he ends up between Holloway/Kyrou; but I think it's safer to project him as a 30 point 3rd liner rather than expecting him to repeat his career year.
Even at 30 points, he's a great add to the 3rd line.
Re: Before and After lineups
Still a ton of room for improvement if we can clear out some cap sapce. Right now Ive got like 10 million in the press box and to many contracts
Re: Before and After lineups
If Bjugstad is our third line center then we took a major step backwards.Whatashame wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:18 pm There will be lots of mix and match in the beginning. I’m not so sure we don’t end up

Re: Before and After lineups
We don’t know that. Sunny was our third line center last year. We couldn’t take a step back. Sunny needs to drop down to the fourth line. Sorry that Faksa is gone but that’s where Sunny fits best. I appreciate everything we got from Schenn last year but he is destined for the third line. Us thinking he is a second line player with Holloway and Kyrou? Again I appreciate what we got from him but he needs to drop down and let’s give more speed to Holloway and Kyrou.rezero wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:50 pmIf Bjugstad is our third line center then we took a major step backwards.Whatashame wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:18 pm There will be lots of mix and match in the beginning. This doesn’t account for anything the kids might do. Dvorsky, Stenberg, Kaskimaki, Dean. Lets let Monty work some magic.

We are an injury away from total disaster on our backend. What is the chances one of fowler, broberg, parayko or Faulk missing significant time? What happens then? Leaving aside the huge questions of penciling in mailleux as a third line d is he or tucker able to fill in on a second pairing? Is kessel as the 7? Yuck. I hope there is still some additional al move on D because as we stand now we are arguably really vulnerable on D.

Good points. I do have to think that if Leddy gets claimed, then Army will sign a cheap vet as an insurance policy. We will have the cap space to do so, without having to dip into LTIR of Krug. Key is that Leddy gets claimed.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 21:42 pm We are an injury away from total disaster on our backend. Re: Before and After lineups
Then I would put Schenn as the 3rd line center and Torpochenko on the 3rd line wing. Bjugstad has been around forever and is not a very productive player. Of the people you listed I am not sure any will see much ice time on the Blues. Maybe Alexandrov though.Whatashame wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 21:23 pmWe don’t know that. This is why I dint understand the Leddy move. Based on what I read, we are going to be throttled with paying his salary as I doubt he gets picked up, so why not keep him just in case.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 21:42 pm We are an injury away from total disaster on our backend. Re: Before and After lineups
It’s probably just to see if anyone will take him. I don’t think nhl players get paid in the offseason. If he doesn’t get claimed he could be in training camp and in the nhl to start the season.rezero wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 22:02 pmThis is why I dint understand the Leddy move. We can put Schenn at 3C. I don’t have a problem with that. Bjugstad was signed for two years and he’s going to be given the opportunity to fail. I think it’s easier to try Bjugstad at 3C and let’s give Schenn play at the wing which might be his better spot.
Sunny needs to center the fourth line with Faksa gone. IMO, that’s where he needs to be and away from the third line altogether. I think
Neighbours Bjugstad Schenn is the best lineup for that group. I’m not expecting the kids to contribute early but someone could step up in the second half of the season. I also wonder if Armstrong doesn’t grab someone late in FA at a very favorable term ( like he did with Bozak). Someone always seems to slip through the cracks.

If he isn't picked up and refuses an AHL assignment his contract can be voided like we did with Saad. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 22:20 pmIt’s probably just to see if anyone will take him. Re: Before and After lineups
Is Suter a 25gl man on a sh#tty Vancouver team or his norm 15gl man? Hated the trade and a center group of Thomas (who I love), Schenn, Suter, Bjugstad, Sundqvist doesn't impress me much. but I guess that's just me, obviously.
Agree to disagree on our off-season.
Mailloux was Montreals 6th rated prospect (The Hockey News Future Watch 2024).

Yup on paper this trade just doesn't add up.thegibby. wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 07:19 am Is Suter a 25gl man on a sh#tty Vancouver team or his norm 15gl man? This staff sees something in Mailloux most of us don't.

Re: Before and After lineups
I still think we are deep on the wing with possibilities. It might start with a texier on the wing, but someone from the ahl is getting a shot this year. Whether dvorsk, stenberg or stancl. But suter is no slouch. If younare deep on the wing you can afford to be sound defensively up the middle. As far as tge bolduc trade, i believe if there was a 2nd included with mailloux i think we would feel way different about the trade. But mailloux has a lot of possibilities if he hits. Army has given me no reason to think he didnt do his research. We now has two boom or bust possibilities at RD and they are layered. We now have possibilities at every position. Bjugstad is a bitvof a head scratcher.thegibby. wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 07:19 am Is Suter a 25gl man on a sh#tty Vancouver team or his norm 15gl man?
