Re: Saggese to start working out in the outfield
What? So that he can see firsthand what a ball to the outfield looks like?
Re: Saggese has started taking reps in the outfield
As I alone recently correctly analyzed, Walker might have placed himself at risk concerning STL's future plans and could well be traded this month or in the off-season.
This news certainly could support that perfect analysis.

Good move?
Why?
He can't hit:
.258 .277 .371 .648
The guy who needs to be shagging flies in the OF is I. Hererra when he's healthy.

This. Walker and Saggese aren't doing much this season to show they can be counted on to hit. If this is a "RE" season it's their time to put up or not.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:04 pm Good move?

Just what they need is another banjo bat in the outfield.

Team should have done that 3 years ago when I was first to advise that move.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:04 pm Good move?

Re: Saggese has started taking reps in the outfield
Actually I did the same two years ago and got laughed at by a poster here in CT (where's that clown who thought he'd be out full time catcher now)?Melville wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:29 pmTeam should have done that 3 years ago when I was first to advise that move.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:04 pm Good move?

3 years ago he was playing 2B in High A ball with the Texas Rangers organization. None of us had likely heard of him, or forgot his name after seeing it in passing in the last round of the 2020 draft.Melville wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:29 pmTeam should have done that 3 years ago when I was first to advise that move.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:04 pm Good move?

Re: Saggese has started taking reps in the outfield
I got an idea.
How about actually acquiring an OF'er who can hit from the right side?

Cranny has assured us that Saggese will be a star. Maybe he'll be right this time, in due time. Meanwhile...11WSChamps wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 17:28 pm I got an idea.

Re: Saggese has started taking reps in the outfield
He reminds me of a homeless person, scraggly and thin. I’m sure he most likely feasted on off speed pitchers left in the zone in the minors but he looks overmatched with fastballs. He won’t see many of those bad off speed pitchers in the majors. He needs to put on some muscle to keep them from knocking the bat out his hands

In the fall of 2022 - 3 calendar years ago - Herrera had just finished his first season appearing with STL.craviduce wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:47 pm3 years ago he was playing 2B in High A ball with the Texas Rangers organization. He was not in A ball and he was not with the Rangers.
And it was very obvious to a few of us that even then Herrera did not look like he was ready to be an MLB catcher - and that is when conversations began here about trading him or considering other positions.
