I had the exact same reaction. Immediately went to Twitter to confirm if I should be happy or shockingly furious.

Great signing here…still don’t care for the Bjugstad signing. Feels like maybe there is one more thing coming

This explains the urgency to get Leddy's $4M cap number off the books. They must be confident someone will claim him.

What do people see in this 28 y/o C with not great FO% listed at 5'11 174lb?

Not criticizing, genuinely curious as to how he fits. Career year last year but otherwise I wouldn't say he's got great 3rd line numbers.

Bjugstad and Suter for 2 years in the bottom-6. Schenn maintains 2C? Dvo to the wing?

Fantastic! Like this a lot. Wonder if we could move 1-2 of Tex, Joseph, Sunny.

Takes the Faksa spot on the PK. Does make signing Bjugstad seem a little strange.

He’s just a solid player …should be good for 20 goals

I kind of agree with you. The only thing I recall about Suter is that he often scored against the Blues when they played the Canucks. I think once he may have even had a hat trick against the Blues. Not certain, though.

AI Overview
Blackhawks' Center Pius Suter Makes History With 1st Career ...
Yes, Pius Suter has recorded at least one hat trick in his NHL career. Specifically, he scored his first career hat trick on January 24, 2021, while playing for the Chicago Blackhawks against the Detroit Red Wings. He also achieved a hat trick on January 24, 2024, while playing for the Vancouver Canucks against the St. Louis Blues.

Top 9 looks much better now. Still a little worried about the 3RW slot having to go to Tex or M. Joseph. Perhaps one of them will grab it though. Maybe Dvo impresses at camp at steals the minutes right out from under them.

Suter isn't a standout center, but at least he gives our wingers more pucks to shoot than they got last year.
