Faulk and Leddy are not going to be on the team would be my guess
so are you suggesting

Not if they are truly in on Byram.

Cam / CP55
Broberg / Byram
Tucker / Mailloux

How could you not like that D core. Plus Tucker and Mailloux should keep a few teams honest.
The questions are how do we move Faulk and Leddy, and what do we give up to acquire Byram? Oh, and to what deal do we sign Byram?

I'm good with dumping Leddy, but not sure Byram is really better than Faulk as a partner for Broberg. Also, if Byram gets hurt we're kinda screwed.
Byram is a lefty, so he would play with Mailloux or Faulk. The Blues would have to get rid of Leddy for it to work. But that would give the Blues a pretty strong D core.

Fowler / Parayko
Broberg / Faulk or Mailloux
Byram / Mailloux or Faulk

Tucker and Kessel

Not sure how much Byram would cost, he made $3.85M and needs $4.62M to qualify. The Blues don't have their 2nd pick, so if they offer sheet him it would have to be $4,680,077 - $7,020,113. Then they wouldn't have their 1st, 2nd, nor 3rd for the 2026 draft.

A trade and qualify would be best, but then who are you trading? And all this is contingent on moving Leddy.

Though Byram is a lefty, he is quite comfortable playing on the right. He has doe it quite often in the past.

No chance Mailoux makes the top 6 unless Amry forces him to be played. Just read an hour on the Habs board about his mental lapses. This is the exact opposite of the game that Monte preaches.
Army literally said today when interviewed that he expects Mailloux to be in the starting line up. Glad you get all your knowledge from reading other teams fan boards rather than watching the guy play. Shows you’re a really knowledgeable hockey fan…

Maybe Mailloux is flipped for Byram?

That seems unlikely since Byram shoots left handed, RHD is/was the organizational need. With Byram you could part with a 1st and 3rd potentially to get him for draft picks if Buffalo doesn't match.

I'm sure that any team that would be willing to trade for him would be looking for a longer term commitment but any team interested could force Buffalo's hand with an offer sheet. His agent all but said he is not resigning in Buffalo when his RFA period ends to put some pressure on the Sabres to move him.

Plausible outcomes:

1. Trade prospects/players to Buffalo to acquire Byram.
2. Offer sheet Byram for 1 year to reasonable contract where pick requirement is lower, just to "check the locks" on Buffalo and prevent them from trading him for a year.
2a. Repeat next summer to push him to UFA.
3. Go all in and do something like ~7 million x 7 years, part with your 1st and 3rd for a known commodity.

That’s a lot to commit to a guy with concussion history.
With the Blues luck he’d get rung up on opening night and have to hang em up

IF we never got rid of Bolduc yesterday; I was thinking Kyrou for Byram. just maybe Kyrou would waive to go to Buffalo. close to hometown; go up against the Habs and Leafs. Who knows?

IF Armstrong pulls a Kryou + for Byram and Benson (or Quinn) I'll forget all about yesterday.

"Jordan, how would you like to go play with your old buddy Tage in Buffalo?"

"Hey if it means I won't be running into Logan Stanley in the playoffs again, sign me up!"

If Armstrong trades Kyrou after just getting rid of Bolduc, then we will know he wants in on the McKenna sweepstakes.

Seemed to me Fowler wasn’t going to do that.
