Maybe they should tell the Dodgers…Cardly wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 09:43 am The Cards are following MLB instructions to pull their product/team back for a few seasons.
The same teams cannot win every season or it destroys the overall product.
Billy and Mo are trying to be creative by orchestrating a “rebuild” during this period of having a non World Series competitive team.
It irks most of us because a few additions and deletions could make this team a WS worthy product. But, this is how it works!
So Mo says they will not add even though they’re in contention because they want to wait a few years until

Agreed. Building from within provides the foundation. A few free agents to fill in the holes where you missed is the finishing work and makes for a good competitive product.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 07:43 amDoesn’t work. Developing players is a slow and hit and miss. Acquiring a proven vet is the way.
If your team is complete trash then sure, pass on the free agents until you have a good foundation.

You know how they could even save more money? Just get rid of every veteran player and call up minor league players and castoffs from around the league. I'm sure there would be huge crowds and tv ratings would spike. They'd lose a hundred games, maybe even more than once, but hey at least the penny pinching owners and hilarious posters like you would be happy. Just sell the team and be done with it. What's the purpose of fielding a team if you aren't trying to win? You know what's going to be true in a few years just like it is now? The Dodgers, Yanks and other assorted winners will still be out spending you and they'll still be the cream of the crop. Maybe they'll get lucky and draft and bring up a few superstars, but it won't be long until they'll have to pay them and when they refuse to, the superstars will shine for the likes of the Dodgers, Yanks, etc.

From a variety of sources i found DeWitt is worth $4B, is the 9th richest MLB owner, and made most of his money from investments. So he made his money with his blood, sweat, and tears.

What is there to chime in on? When you don't supplement w/a payroll that allows the new POBO to add pieces that don't exist inside the system (re: power hitters, OF'ers and TOR+TR starters).

I can't find such a quote from Mo. Here's an interview from Monday where he talks about possibly adding players at the deadline. He certainly doesn’t say they're standing pat. Note: It does not compare to the Rob Cerfolio interview.

Fine if that’s their plan. However I will take the same approach to attending. When they spend and get some future HOF caliber players in their prime I will buy tickets

You can never develop enough at once internally. Some of our internal talent like Helsley will be gone or past his prime by the time we develop the next generation. And you can’t simply trade him for a younger carbon copy - any trade would be a downgrade in overall talent.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 07:43 amDoesn’t work. Look at Baltimore this year. They developed all this talent and then just flamed out. Meanwhile the Yankees.
You have to acquire a balance of internal talent and veterans from other Orgs to really compete.

There should be no buying this year.
When your team can't score a single run in a series against a last place team, you deserve nothing.

That’s because everyone is hurt or playing hurt. Mo should be fired for not building better depth.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:05 pm There should be no buying this year.
