The Contract Should No Longer Play
Mikolas and Fedde are sunk costs. BDW is a billionaire, he'll get over it. Both of those guys should never start another game for the Cardinals. We know what we'll get. McGreevy is ready, let others audition until Matthews is ready August/September. They can't be worse than what MM and EF give us, and what if we catch lightning in a bottle. Improbably we're resetting, kinda, and competing. We'll be better if 40% of our rotation isn't hopeless. A brilliant start once every 4-6 turns is fools gold. Instead, go for it, not by a desperate move but by pitching the kids and letting them learn. And at the deadline, or sooner, a right-handed bat would be nice. And mercifully, let's end the Garrett Hampson delusion.

But what if a player is a fan favorite, or has a personal stat to pursue?OregonRedbird wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 23:34 pm Mikolas and Fedde are sunk costs. BDW is a billionaire, he'll get over it. I'm no fan of Miko-loss or Fedde but that's a bit of an overreaction. Fedde has had two terrible starts in a row but was a fine #3-4 guy prior to that. Miko-loss had a decent May and stuggled in June, pitching like a #4-5 guy. Mr. McBeevee hasn't exactly set the world on fire, but I would agree with you that he deserves a chance in the rotation to see what he can do. I"d move Miles to the bullpen initially, pending Fedde's situation. Another terrible start or two and he's in the bullpen, or traded (it's about time we get Tommy Pham back again, right?).OregonRedbird wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 23:34 pm Mikolas and Fedde are sunk costs. Not so much an overreaction, Brummer, but accepting thatthese guys get hit hard, a lot.Dazzle for a few innings and blowup. Why not start the kids, can’t be much worse but benefits the future. Meanwhile, 23 scoreless innings In Pittsburgh is maddening.
