Found this on CBS Sports: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseb ... ssignment/
Walker (appendix) is rejoining the team this week in Pittsburgh to meet with training staff before heading out on a rehab assignment, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The 23-year-old has apparently recovered well from appendicitis, but he won't return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Friday. Walker may only need a couple rehab games in the minors and could be back with the Cardinals early next week.

I'm happy he avoided surgery but wouldn't mind if they slow walked the rehab assignment. He needs a reset.cardstatman wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 21:13 pm Found this on CBS Sports: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseb ... ssignment/

Cards are 98-112 when Walker starts in 2023-2025
Cards are 103-98 when Walker does not start in 2023-2025
Baseball reference has him at 45 runs below average (14 below offense, 31 below defense).
fangraphs has him at 33 runs below average (7 below offense, 26 below defense).
I don't want to give up on him, but he needs to get a lot better while playing minor league baseball.
Since his glove will never be good; his bat has to be among the best for him to make a positive impact.
So far his impact has been very significant, but in the wrong direction.

How many resets does he need?Mort Gage wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 21:17 pmI'm happy he avoided surgery but wouldn't mind if they slow walked the rehab assignment. He needs a reset.cardstatman wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 21:13 pm Found this on CBS Sports: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseb ... ssignment/

At this point, he either has it or he doesn't. Starting to think this dude is a mental midget

Go easy with your internet opinions, people. Some day you will be held accountable for every unkind word.

Re: Jordan Walker….????!!!
The organization has previously done a ton to damage his development. First they were way too slow to move him to the outfield when they knew 3b was blocked. He was rushed to the Majors then when he had some success hitting, they sent him to the minors and messed with his swing trying to unlock more power. The organization messed him up.
People need to remember he is still extremely young. We are transitioning to a new front office with new ideas. Let them work with him to see if they can unlock the potential.
For a few years now we read posts about Liberatore being a bust and it was time to move on. We was given a chance to learn and work through issues. He is now one of our few dependable starters.
I know people struggle with patience on young players, but giving up on young players under 25 with talent because they struggle can lead to watching other teams unlock the potential (see Adonis Garcia).
