Pirates 37-50

Post by Goldfan »

When the Stl Cardinals were actually a good winning baseball team with a real manager they’d roll into Pitts on a winning streak and Pound the Pirates into submission. The Pirates as of now are 37-50…..after taking 2 from Birds….they were 35-50
What in hades will it take to get a manager in here who can keep this team focused and beat these 2nd tier teams?

They are not going to change managers. That would upset MO, the guy who has hired 3 inexperienced managers in a row. He likes to think he made good picks.

If anything screams “I can’t manage a winning ML team”…it’s seemingly having a competitive club fighting for a division title and then going to Pitts and getting beat 2games by a 15games under .500 pirates team

Playing a team on a winning streak can do bad things to your play. Pirates have now won 5 in a row. Young team with nothing to lose.

Yes, big mistake to look at a team's overall record when determining the team you are playing right now .
In the current 5 game winning streak , the Pirates have been very stingy in allowing runs. They have only allowed 4 runs total in the past 5 games ...
The three vs. Mets were 1, 2, and 1 run and now 0,0 for the Cards.

Offensively, the Pirates in those same 5 winning games have scored : 9, 9, 12, 7, and 1 That's a lot of runs ! 38 runs in 5 games.. 7+ runs per game

The 2004 St. Louis Cardinals that won 105 games led by Tony LaRussa got swept on the road in Pittsburgh by an 89 loss Pirates team.

Dumb thread. This happens every week in MLB. There is talent on every team. Best players in the world. They're catching a young team on a winning streak. The Bucs just swept the Mets, out scoring them something like 30-4 in 3 games with 2 shutouts. They're hot, playing good baseball right now. Unfortunate for us!

LoL. You are so full of [shirt].

Cards are still in the wildcard after today  same number of wins as the two teams also wildcards above them... 8O

Baseball is a funny game and a long season
You'd do well to understand that...any given day

Not just any given day...but given the probabilities of MLB baseball, any given 3 or 5 days. Two games is just not a useful sample size out of a 162 game season.

It's always amusing when the opposition is devalued after every loss to thoughtfully grind an ax.

I’m sorry…..I guess the 35-50 Pirates winning streak takes much greater precedent than the 9 games over .500 Cards team fighting for a division title coming into Pitts with a 3 game winning streak…..many apologies
