Running Man remake - Edgar Wright & Glen Powell

Post by 3dender »

Wasn't aware this was happening but I trust Edgar Wright with most anything (speaking of which, I guess I need to catch up with his last movie Last Night in Soho).

Not a huge Glen Powell fan but he looks like he could be more interesting than usual in this role, and the whole movie looks great -- Wright has always been an excellent action director if nothing else.

Overall I REALLY hope they correct the major failing of the original which was that it did not adhere to Stephen King's grisly, nihilistic ending, which remains one of the most vivid and memorable action sequences I've ever read. The plane footage in this trailer suggests it's a possibility...

I can't think of another writer who has had more books and short stories turned into films than Stephen King. Still to come: The Long Walk (2025), then Billy Summers (2026?). Billy Summers is one of his rare works (along with The Shawshank Redemption) that doesn't include any supernatural. Earlier rumor had DiCaprio as the lead.

Will be curious to see if this version is more faithful to the book or to the 1987 Schwarzenegger film.
