Losing Bolduc hurts but this kid is a big offensive defenseman that can pair with Broberg for years to come. I think its a good move overall.

Is Stenberg close, or Kaskimaki? Do they like Carbonneau more on the RW than Bolduc, is Carbonneau two years away or less? We knew a prospect was going to be dealt they all cant play. Frankly loved Bolducs potential but Im glad they didnt deal Neighbours

I wonder if this opens up the possibility of a short term winger signing in addition to a center.

Something else has to be in the works. I hope.

Let's not forget that Snuggy played what, two regular season games. Think he has to be penciled in as a top six winger going forward. I don't like losing Bolduc but our depth and pipeline at RHD was brutal. I really hope this changes that.

So far Pierre loves it and MN hates it. I may have missed it but what is your opinion. More interested in long term. Still waiting for SEA to surface.

I absolutely hate this move. I don’t like it from a hockey perspective. Bolduc is an established NHLer while Mailloux is still trying to fully make the jump. Only played 7 games for the Canadiens this season and was caved in defensively. He’s far from a sure bet IMO. I just absolutely hate it. I know he’s a RD and that’s a more valuable position than a winger but that doesn’t make up for the gap in value IMO. They were taken in the same draft - Bolduc was taken 14 spots higher and he’s shown he should’ve gone higher to date.

And then add in the off ice baggage/PR issues they’ll now have to deal with and…yuck. I just absolutely hate it on first reaction.

Bolduc seemed to be progressing nicely however the Broberg acquisition might be the driver for this deal. Having a couple of young defenders does not seem to be the problem it was during the Hitchcock era.

Won’t have to wait that long. He just missed scoring 20 playing with scrubs on the 3rd line in his 1st full NHL season. Yeah but we have so many wingers. Guys like Bolduc don’t grow on trees. It wasn’t now or never to find a younger RHD!

Jim Campbell scored 20 goals in an NHL season also, and topped out at 23.

I'm not saying Bolduc will or won't but to expect a perennial all star off of one season is being a bit dramatic isn't it?

We’re giving up a good one in Bolduc.
But Mailloux could legitimately turn into the next Dobson. We’re going to have to wait and see. Value wise, I think it’s about even.

it is, but I'd rather take the gamble on a position we have an overabundance of and have even more on the way, then to sit still and do nothing and hope everything just gets figured out.

There was no way we were going to get a young RHD without giving up something that a good majority of people going "oh I don't know about this"

We have wingers galore...we filled a huge need and you have to give to get. Bolduc will never be able to control a game like Mailloux will be able to in the near future.

RHD's are valuable. This kid has all the tools. Yeah; it hurts to lose Boldy; I am a big fan.

D is and will be worth more than wingers, of which we have a surplus.

Really? Where has he been described as a potential "franchise" RD? Most scouting reports put him as a Top 4 defender (mostly second pairing).
