Im not sure Dvorsky is going to be ready out of camp that would somewhat surprise me but if he earns it thats great news for the franchise.
I think it's probably close and I'm OK with bringing some else in but the timing is not ideal. I don't really want a 3 year deal that makes up better for one of the years and worse the other 2. I'd rather be worse this year and better the next 2
IF the Blues sign a Granlund for like 6x5 or something Schenn could also be moved to wing when Dvorsky emerges

Buchy Thomas Snuggerud
Holloway Granlund Kyrou
Schenn Dvorsky Bolduc
Neighbours Dean Torop

No matter how i try to extrapolate near future lines i end up with a very good 4th line, then Stenberg is close, who knows who else. Im sure a trade or something will transpire though

Yeah that is exactly what I don't want. A 5 year deal for granlund is a no for me.

If the Blues give Granlund 5 years, they need to have their heads examined. He's 33.

Would have to find a way to move Joseph or Texier probably.
Not ideal, but can save just over a million $$ if needed by waiving Texier and putting him in the AHL if he clears. By no means a great option, but it clears a roster spot and a few bucks….if they need it.

Schenn has 3 years left and the only real center prospect we have is Dvorsky. I have no problem going beyond Schenn’s expiration date for Granlund. We’re probably going to need another stop-gap at that point anyway.

Boy it really would be nice to see Dean take a big step forward in camp would love to see him earn a spot soon

I’d be willing to go 3-4 years on Granlund if need be. Not ideal, and not the perfect fit, but he has skills and would help our depth scoring. Can waive/trade Texier if we need a roster spot, as I expect them to go 14/7 this season. Again, not perfect but:

Buch - RT - Snuggs
Holloway - Schenn - JK
Neighbours - Granlund - Bolduc
Walker - Joseph/Sunny - Toro
Texier/young player out of camp

CF - CP
Bro - Faulk
Leddy - Tucker
Kessel

Like ive seen a couple others mention..Id just assume Devo start earning his keep as the third line center. I highly doubt it’d stunt his growth like Im sure all the wannabe experts will be by to claim. He’ll almost assuredly be ready later in the year or the start of next year anyways, so why dump money into another aging player who’s best years are behind him.

Why not target Pius Suter instead of Granlund?

I'd like Granlund, but wouldn't want to give him term. We don't need two aging C's on this team. I really am concerned that the organization continues to not address the glaring needs in the pipeline at C and RD. We're going to end up over paying in dollars or trade assets to address those gaps instead of handling it internally through the draft.

I don’t disagree, but until he shows he’s ready, center depth is important in case of injuries. Whether it be Dvorak, Granlund or Faksa, I would hope they sign at least one more natural center. I just don’t want to have to watch a single minute of play this season with Sunny as the 3C, and we saw the impacts to scoring last season when Thomas was out for a short while.

Otherwise, completely agree with your premise.

That’s fair and sensible.

Could we see a Granlund-Holloway-Kyrou line with Granlund taking faceoffs for Holloway. Holloway moved off of center due to a wrist injury that made it more difficult to take faceoffs. Honestly if Dvorsky is good at faceoffs he could take over that role after Granlund. I don't think Dvorsky skates well enough to play center in the NHL.

Holloway is not playing center & Dvorsky will definitely play center & become a very good one!
