How Many of You Here on Cards Talk are Retired?

Retired 68 year old. Went to my first Cardinals game in early September 1964. We walked in and got great tickets hardly anybody was there. Everyone thought the season was over.!

I am 60 and retired for 7 years. I travel quite a bit, bike long distance and play chess competitively. Sometimes I am on this board frequently. Other times when I am playing in an event, I am not here at all for periods of time. Overseas it is hit or miss if the country allows a connection to this website. Good information and ideas on the board. This year in particular is interesting with the Cards outperforming expectations and having so many moving pieces that could be traded and or are on expiring contracts. The next several weeks should be interesting. Go Cards.

I'm 80 and retired 18 years.

I'll turn 50 in September, so no.

And like others around my age, I feel there won't be a "retirement age" when we get to what that age should be.

We can retire and get "some" benefits, but not what we should be getting.

I peruse it when I'm on break at work and every so often when I'm off or get home. A little more for the GDTs.

I also check in on the other forums. Obviously Blues and Soccer Talk. And the entertainment ones from time to time.

Don't check in to the forum too much. Do catch about 90% of the games via MLBTV.

I am 75 and retired. Check in several tines per day. Check on my business that my son runs and wait on the ballgames.

I'm semi-retired at age 60. Been following Cardinals since the tail end of the 1972 season. The 1970s was a lost decade after Carlton and Reuss trades and Gibson in 1973 and 1974 was a .500 pitcher with them losing out by 1.5 games. The 1980s should have had a playoff appearance in 1981 and another WS winner in 1985.

The 1990s started off with Herzog quitting on the team in 1990 and then some bad years with ownership change. Many vocal fans on the radio disliked Herzog, but, he had 3 pennant winners. 1996 ended up in a disappointment with new manager TLR The 2000s and this century has seen the Cardinals in playoff contention nearly every year until 2023 including 2007. I remember the Larussa hate on here.

Following the Cards for 50 plus years amazed how well they did this century since there is a lot of luck involved. I'm aware that only the Yankees in baseball history have been most fortunate in winning WS. The best teams win the WS when there were 2 or 4 post season teams like 55% of the time. The Yankees were like 67% through 2000 though they have won the final game only once since then. The Dodgers are horrific since 1941 in the final games of the regular season and the WS except shorten season. Yes, they won last season , but should have 16 WS wins . The Braves have disappointed many times since the 1990s.

I hate the salary contracts. When the top salary was $2 million or so we we all better off instead of having to worry about all of the disastrous $100 million contracts that teams have signed players.

I was hoping that starting with the WS TV ratings would reduce ratings significantly so salaries would decrease so small market teams have a better chance.

Still need 6 more parks to visit.

I retired in 2017, moved to Florida, started a couple of side hustles marketing on the internet and a couple youtube channels. Between that and fishing I keep pretty busy. I try to check in every day or so, but don't post much. 67 y/o and still after that 10 lb bass.

I am 80 years old and have been retired for 20 years. I look in at least once a day, sometimes more. I really enjoy it, except for the juvenile wise a—s, rude comments from a select few.

...I'm one of the more senior posters on the forum, as I will celebrate my 85th birthday in October. I retired (after 20 yrs) from the USAF in 1986, and from the National Weather Service in 2005. Saw my first game(s), a DH against the New York Giants in June 1950. Cards won both games. Favorite player was Stan Musial.

Generally only check the forum on game days, and log on an hour or two before game time. Have the game on TV, Gameday and CT game forum on the computer. Rarely post anymore, rarely question the manager's game moves, or criticize management. They have information I, nor anyone else on CT has. MLB is a business and a lucrative one, and maximizing the bottom line is 1st priority. I go into hibernation on CT after the WS is over.

Retired, but check it out several times in a day. Don't post as much as I used to. Bulldog, you live at my favorite restaurant, Lambert's, and my one of favorite places to go, Current river. Moved to middle Tennessee, so haven't been there in a while. Went to Boomland to get items for the 4th and then went Lambert's after. Been a Cards fan since 63, first game was in 67 and got sèe Gibby pitch. Got to go in 68 and saw Gibby and Carlton pitch against SF. I'm also 70.

I’m 44. Depends on how busy work and life are, but I usually get caught up around bed time daily even if I haven’t been on all day.

Some seem surprised how many here are past retirement age. I’m actually surprised there are as many 50 and under here as have posted.
