I don't think anyone is "building him up."
He is a 4 star by most accounts.

Rivals and ESPN list him as a 4 star.

247 rates him a 3-star but their composite has him at 4. Except for bragging rights, who really cares? When he hits campus in 6-12 months his ranking won't matter at all.

Regardless, he's a big boy at 6-3.5 and 326 and from a good HS program. That's the kind of player you want to recruit.
