Wow, that's much cheaper than I was thinking he'd get. 8th year and staying in FLA must mean that much. Good for them, and the market.

Doubtful.

It's hard enough to make 2 consecutive finals, 3 is even more rare, 4? That's way too much

They will still be a force to be reckoned with another season or two. Then that roster is going to start getting old really fast.

That does nothing for the market

He gets $9 easy on the open market. That is a humongous discount. Shows that if you create the right culture, players will leave money on the table to stay.

and let's be honest, no matter how much someone wants to deny it (looking at Gary Bettman), being a no tax state is a major advantage.

It definitely does not hurt, along with the weather and other things. But I honestly think the chance to be part of a winning core and a team willing to keep them together trumps even that. Obviously, every player is different.

That’s a heckuva deal/discount. Same with Bennett. They are going to look very similar to last year come this fall. They should be the favorites to 3-peat.

But now looking at their roster they are in a bit of a bind.

They have 4.9 million left in space, and 5 positions to fill. They got Tarasov to be a back up, he's an RFA so he's due about a mil or so which puts them at 3.5 with 4 players to sign.

It's a safe bet that Marchand isn't coming back, and even with that they are going to have to trade someone like an Evan Rodriguez for nothing.

That's how the depth erodes away.

Oh yeah, definitely no taking away from that.

Erod is gone. No way they can keep him. Mackie Samoskevich can fill that spot though.

That’s a massive discount. He’ll be getting an angry email from the NHLPA.
