Just a signing away.
Team would trade away Walker, Matz, Mik, and Helmsley and outfield will be Tucker Scott and Burleson.
Infield Willy Donovan Winn Nado. Pages at catcher. Gorman and Herrera at DH.
Staff
Gray
Libby
Pallante
Mcg
Young gun.
Closer- maton or granillo.
That completes year two of reset.
Re: The Cardinals with Kyle Tucker.
Doesn’t have anything to do with Rob Cerfolio. It has to do with the Cardinals, when they stepped out of their M.O. by giving Fowler a 5 year contract, learned the hard way about free agent signings without the proper due diligence.desertrat23 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 10:57 amI can’t believe you would even bother to share that. Spending $82.5 million without doing proper due diligence sounds like it should be grounds for termination, wouldn't you say?Cranny wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 11:50 amDoesn’t have anything to do with Rob Cerfolio. I would say so, perhaps, except that many other MLB organizations have had poor FA signings.desertrat23 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 12:03 pmSpending $82.5 million without doing proper due diligence sounds like it should be grounds for termination, wouldn't you say?Cranny wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 11:50 amDoesn’t have anything to do with Rob Cerfolio. Sure, no argument. Everyone is going to miss from time to time. But when you miss on Fowler, and Cecil, and Leake, and Miller, and on and on...there's a trend there. Fowler is actually a great example of how this organization has lost its way. They panicked. They really wanted Adam Eaton but choked at the trade price. So they overpaid Fowler, who didn't really want to be here, so they had to give him an extra year. Same is true with Contreras -- they wanted Sean Murphy but choked at the trade price. So they signed a free-agent catcher and told him after a month he would be a LF, then put him back at C, then had him DH, and now he's playing 1B. It's a testament to who Contreras is that it's working out well this year. But this is what happens time and time again. They won't pay for what they really want or need, so they try to force-fit things and end up wasting more years and spending at least as much (if not more) as they would have in the first place.

Every team’s scouts do this so they don’t end up giving millions of dollars to a (bleep) teenager with low character and no discipline. It isn’t unique to the Cardinals.Cranny wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 10:32 amRob Cerfolio, working under Chaim Bloom is responsible for the types of players that the Cardinals bring into the organization through the draft, working with Randy Flores and the entire scouting department. That’s exactly right. You just repeat it. Blindly and slavishly, without any critical thinking or reflection that it may be misguided or in need of modernization. And then you wonder why everyone here thinks you just carry the organization’s water. Rob Cerfolio, who you’d never heard of until eight months ago, gets hired and gives an interview with a built-in rationalization for why they won’t go acquire premium talent and it’s now the Gospel. Sigh.
And to your point on Fowler, if that’s true and they didn’t do the proper due diligence before signing Fowler to a five-year, $82.5 million contract, add that to the list of reasons why John Mozeliak should have been terminated years ago.
"modernization", I've already commented on the new high level equipment the Cardinals have invested in and the hiring
of coaches who know how to teach with it. Common knowledge, again, not worthy of a long discussion.
As for the “we want to know a player first” rhetoric regarding FAs… that’s just lip service. If you truly believe the Cardinals front office is too incompetent to research a player’s background/character without having them within the organization, then just keep posting what you’re posting.

That's great that he says that. What we're saying is that since we have nearly a decade of evidence that says the way the Cardinals approach free agency hasn't worked for them, maybe they should consider re-evaluating their priorities.Cranny wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 13:49 pmWell, Quincy, I guess I have to repeat what BDW, Jr. has said many times at WWUs. That’s neat. Every team “likes” that, but not to the extent they are unwilling to sign free agents without giving them a test drive. Are you going to suggest that the Cardinals haven’t signed top free agents for this reason? Why don’t you look at the trades they have made that prove what BDW, Jr. was saying - Holliday, Ozuna, Goldy, Arenado, etc. They prefer trades to FA signings. They have ever since BDW, Jr. and other investors bought the team. When they strayed from it with Fowler, Leake, Cecil, etc. it only proved their point more.
