Kyrou isn't perfect by any means. However, one major factor in why he is being mentioned in trade rumors is that he is a winger on a team with a glut of wing options and he has defined his value in this league as a dynamic skater who scores goals and produces offensively. The blues are looking for a young 2C and a top 4 RHD. You aren't starting those conversations by offering wingers who haven't defined their value yet.

Yes, Kyrou is mentioned as an asset in trade talks exactly because the NHL knows who he is, he scores he drives offense and he has a friendly deal in the current salary reality. Whether or not he throws body checks in playoffs games, or wait for it, assists isnt precluding his value. As i mentioned 10 goals in his last 19 playoff games. Even in a series where so many only focus on him and everything hes not doing, he still scored in game 1 and game 7. Even if the whole oackage idnt together yet, i see a lot of promise is his play in the play. If he figures out a way to be stronger on the puck this guy will take off. For 8mil. Contracts are going to be taking off like the mlb. We could actually use another kyrou at that contract. Id gladly replace buch with another kyrou. At least one signed their contract either way potential. The other signed on his doenfall. If buch doesnt respond with a 65-70pt season then that contract is trash.

There's really no one on the Habs we need. I'd maybe say Hutson but he's a RFA and only making 950K...they're up against the cap so that wouldn't work. Matheson and Dach....pass. I'd look to move him for two number 1 picks from someone for next year if they have two, or one next year one the following year. Open up cap space to land free agents. Sign Granlund for 2C and Ekblad on defense. Or another option, really push hard and deal him to Buffalo for Thompson and Byrom adding in a a couple other prospects not named Davorsky. No one on this team roster already gets dealt other than Kyrou and/or Faulk/Leddy. Be smart Doug/Steen.

Not only is Suzuki far more valuable, he is their Thomas in a world where they too lack a contender caliber 2C

Suzuki would be great but no way the Habs trade him for Kyrou. I wouldn't think anyway unless they have a plethora of great young centers in their pipeline.
I'd just find a team maybe Carolina to get their two first round picks, believe they have three next year, and be done. Let's see what the kids do this camp and decide from there.
