Are Blues competing for the West in 2025 or Rebuilding?
There are so many posts about unloading key players like Kyrou for draft picks, yet the Blues were one of the best teams in hockey the second half. We should have beat the Presidents Cup winner in the first round. If Holloway did not get hurt, we were playing as good as anyone in the league. Why would Blues want to be sellers at the deadline? We have a team now that can compete if we can stay healthy and have a full season of Snuggerud ahead of us.

I agree 100%. It was injuries that killed this team last season not lack of overall talent. i don't think they make any big moves.

Plus any big move could cost ice time for Blues young players. I cant wait to get a full year of Snuggerud and see if a Bolduc takes a step forward. Plus would not be surprised if Dvorsky or Alexandrov gets some playing time in 2025-26.

Thomas and Broberg both had injuries early in the season. I think Broberg was on a 8 game point streak when he went down. He was killing it. Thomas was out shortly after that and both missed a lot of games. Parayko got hurt later in the season but they went on the 12 win streak during that time. Super weird and unexpected. Holloway was out the whole PO's. I'm not sure how to explain the 12 W run while Parayko was out but I do think the loss of Broberg, Thomas and Holloway effected the overall outcome of the season.
This team without Holloway was 1.6 seconds away from beating the #1 seed and advancing to the 2nd round.

Holloway, 5games reg and 7games playoffs
Thomas, 12 games
Broberg, 14 games
buchnevich 6 games
Parayko 18 games

Everyone was back for the playoffs except for Holloway, and then Tucker went down—though that wasn't a significant loss. Overall, we went into the playoffs as a healthy team

Let me tell you where the Blues are.... I'm Army's sock puppet, and he has already told you where we are.
Remember in early February when Army blew a gasket and said essentially that "we've changed everything except our most senior players and nothing is changing..."?
At the time, that likely meant Kyrou, but no one knew for sure. Fast forward to now, and Army is trying to trade Kyrou (per the rumors).
This tells you concretely where the Blue are.... per Doug Armstrong.
The Blues aren't rebuilding, but they are getting rid of the longest-held piece that is "Mr Nothing Changes". Army does not want 5 more years of the early February blues.

revisionist history to fit an agenda

A tired team that had to win 13 games in a row to make it. We were a lil tired.ManitobaBlues wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025 07:41 amEveryone was back for the playoffs except for Holloway, and then Tucker went down—though that wasn't a significant loss. Overall, we went into the playoffs as a healthy team

The Blackhawks went to game seven overtime in the conference finals against the LA kings in 2014 but you probably didn't know that because it means jack schmitt in the end.

Yes I know there are some on here who would trade Kyrou for whatever they can get and move on from him.rezero wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025 22:05 pm There are so many posts about unloading key players like Kyrou for draft picks, yet the Blues were one of the best teams in hockey the second half. However, the majority (including the Blues GM) only want to see him go in a deal that improves this team.
If he can be traded for a young top 4 RHD or a young top 2 center then that is a deal worth making. If it's for nothing other than someone else's trash or a similar player then it doesn't make sense.
I'd deal him for the following:
Brady Ktachuk
Either of the Seattle centers
Reinbacher (but Montreal would have to add since he hasn't played a single NHL game at this point)
Other than that, I'm keeping him and enjoying 30 goals and 70+ points a season.
