Detroit should be calling Cardinals for Sonny Gray

Post by AtillaTheBlue1 »

they need that #2 to go behind skubal, flaherty isnt that person, and their other young could be stud starter has to get healthy

tigers have a loaded farm system, with top end prospects, and a few who are close.

He's signed for another year, meaning the price tops out at HIgh. Tigers don't get pitching help, they will not make any runs to WS. pitching wins titles.

Im sure there will be multiple calls regarding Gray. A smart pobo/gm would flip the conversation to Fedde. But Mo is a putz, so he will do the dumbest possible thing.

Im just waiting for the major announcement of a 5 year Mikolas extension. That'd be a true Mo move.

Sonny is under control thru '27. '27 is an option year. If Sonny is as effective next year as he has been this year, I suspect we will exercise the option.

Sonny is going no where, unless it is Atlanta. He wants to stay close to Nashville and has a no trade clause to make sure that happens.

Besides his Friday game says that he still is able to deal it.

Yep. Detroit might as well call Sonny directly because Mo has no leverage on this one.

No, its exactly something MO would do. Maybe not a 5 year extension, but I could see him reupping him. (Perhaps not now since he is leaving, but defintely if hw was still going to be here.) Mo thinks of Mikolas in the same vein as M. Carpenter, Waino, Molina. He wants him to be a legacy guy. Insane!

2 1/2 games behind the cubs
Swept the guardians
In sole possession of a wild card spot

And people still want to trade our ace

Seriously, as if Mo would be allowed to do any such thing as a lame duck.

Should? Maybe. Will? They haven't added anything of substance lately even when they were getting 3.3 mil clicks.

Ummm, unless they have the Cardinals permission, this is called tampering…

What I meant was Cardinals can’t trade him so no need to call. Just didn’t land right or think about tampering implication. It was late.

Jordan Montgomery was a pretty good add in 2022, especially combined with Quintana. Even trading for Fedde last year at the deadline was seen as a good move by the Cardinals.
