Armstrong discusses looking for 2nd line C
I didn't get to see any of this press conference so my apologies if it's been discussed or you guys have seen it but good to see his thoughts on the leaguewide need for 2C's

I'd rather they do nothing than make an overpay trade though. I do like him saying they're not trading somebody younger for somebody older for a temporary fix. I'm hopeful they can find a move that makes sense at some point thoughBalotelliMassive wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 19:01 pm Translation: everybody has the same problem we do so don't be surprised if we can't find one

Centers are in demand. Don't be surprised to have sticker shock at what Faksa gets as a FA.

He also made the point he's not going to trade a 25 year old guy for a 31 year old guy. Which to me, is a solid prod to DD, or another of the 9 AHL centers to hurry on up and crack this roster. That 2C will come from within, might take a couple years to spin up.

Re: Armstrong discusses looking for 2nd line C
DA wants 3 scoring lines in the not too distant future and he has the wingers to do it. If they trade for a young 2C, it won't block Dvorsky. By then Schenn won't be a scoring line center. So, right now the Blues only have Thomas who fits the role as a true scoring line center. We need Dvorsky and another young 2/3C to get to where DA wants this team to be up front. If Neighbours and Bolduc are your 3rd line wings, they deserve a guy who isn't just a checking line center.

They could end up with a Dean/Dvorsky platoon at 3C to start the year.

That’s a pretty tall ask of Dean who hasn’t even proven himself in the AHL yetFrank Barone wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 19:48 pm They could end up with a Dean/Dvorsky platoon at 3C to start the year.

If he can't get an upgrade, I wouldn't be surprised if Texier gets a shot at 3C.

Texier couldn’t get an extended look at wing when all he had to do was play better than Joseph, and you think he gets extended look at center?Blue Sabbath wrote: ↑28 Jun 2025 21:05 pmWe have nothing to lose by giving him an extended look.

Someone in the organ-i-zation likes him. Didn't Armstrong specifically say giving him more of an opportunity was the main reason for moving on from Saad?

I don't think the sticker shock on Faksa will be that high. I think once he gets to about the 3.5-4M range, teams will mostly decide to work with what they have internally. Not many are going to want a guy who's a good glue center on a 3rd or 4th line at 5-6M.

Re: Armstrong discusses looking for 2nd line C
This Dach (bleep) has me worried. I don't want Kyrou dealt, but if they feel he is just not a playoff player they want to move forward with, they better get a better return than dach. Dach would be on his 3rd team by 25 years old- there is a reason for that. He can't stay healthy. He wasn't the best skater anyway and he really can't play the position well anyway if you look at the faceoff and defensive metrics. I would hope that we just hold steady if that is where this is going. Let Dvorsky get a shot at cutting his teeth on the 3rd line or re-sign Faksa at 2 mil for 2 years and have sunny go out there until dvorsky can take the spot. Running it back is not as exciting, but this team can still win and will only get better with all of the youth. After next year, we will have 20 million under the cap to play with after extending Bolduc (4mil), Broberg(7.5), Holloway(7.5), and Fowler(5).(estimates). Any free agent- and I mean any could be in play if they see us as a contender. If you look at that roster, they need two things. A centerman who is legit and a top 4 pairing rd. Eichel or McDavid would look pretty nice as that center. If you can move Faulk's 6.5, you can easily also fit a 7-10 million dollar defenseman on it via trade or free agency. Hold the process. It is one year where we still could surprise and then we open that window.
