I don't know anything about these kids. I'm glad Carbonneau already has some weight on him. The Islanders had 2 picks at 16 and 17 and I got to wonder if either of those guys will make it. They were small 165 lbs and 171 lbs kids. Im glad the guy the Blues picked looked like he could open a pickle jar if he had to.

Eklund(#16) is admittedly small; which is why he fell so far.
But Kashawn Aitcheson(#17) is 6'1" 198 lbs and hits like a freight train.

I must have misread the TV in-between my yawns. He just didn't look that big standing next to the other little guy.
Aitcheson at 17 is a hell of a good pick, he is a big boy and plays that way. Clutch. Natural charisma in a team sport context (into the fight together). I had him as my next defenseman after Schaefer.

The interesting thing is he's two weeks younger than Lukas Fischer. If Fischer were available he would probably go behind Aitcheson contrary to what I would have thought earlier in the year, but there is a similar snarl and Fischer is a big mean player, and they can both score a bit. 3d and 5th in the OHL for defensemen this year but that said it was Parekh (33) Dickinson (29) Aitcheson (26) Marelli (19) and Fischer (15) then Mews and Reid (14). Fischer would have been a first rounder if two weeks younger IMO

Of the top 20, IMO Eklund scares me the most, as he's a very small framed kid. Don't get me wrong as he has skills for miles, but he'll have to add at least 15lbs to that frame.
Also, I can't believe Carbonneau fell to us, as he was squarely at 12 on my list (size, speed, skill, IQ and determination). Don't get me wrong, it broke my heart when Calgary picked Reschny the pick before, but I was SCREAMING at the computer for the Blues to pick Carbonneau, as I knew (shockingly) he was still on the board...
Right on Pete! CalGary picking Reschney was the only moment I cursed last nite. Then, in an "under further review" reset....still JC or Hensler available. What could go wrong? Atta boy, DA & staff. It didnt go wrong.
I heard "football player" and running back and lineman ... and thought of TJ Oshie. Sure appears that this kid makes his opportunities and thrives in the dirty areas.

THIS was EXACTLY the type of pick I wanted at 19. I didn’t care if he was a wing, C, or defenseman or even cared that much about his stats: I wanted the biggest guy and best skater available. I didn’t even care about his skills. But, this kid sounds like the complete package. If his biggest negative is that he tries to do too much, that’s better than someone who doesn’t try to do enough! That usually comes from always being the best player on the team.
This is a kid that needs to be in the AHL next year, not back in juniors. Too bad that’s not a possibility.
Kyrou will not be remembered in the 2025 playoffs as the guy that tried to do too much. I think we can all agree on that.
I thought for sure they woulda drafted one of the Dmen, and was hopin they would, but if they had Carbonneau rated higher than any of them then no problemo, they’ve proven they know what they’re doing when drafting in that range the past few years…minus that little hickup last year with theJiricek pick of course.
