I have always been critical of Kyrou, and absolutely think he should be moved in the right deal, but he is still an important part of the team and I am not sure Dobson is the right deal if it means a 8x10m contract.

Many of the Blues forwards have that awareness. 1 or 2 don't.skilles wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 10:15 am I certainly wouldn't count on Fowler being better, he is a good player and will probably be a good player but I think he likely experienced a change of scenery bump last year and likely won't be quite as ridiculously good.
I also wouldn't buy to much into any of the rumors right now with all the negotiating and gamesmanship that is likely taking place.
Same can be said of Parayko and Faulk, actually.
As for Dobson ... I want the Blues to close on this just so that I can post a Jurassic Park gif ... "Dobson! We have Dobson!"

10x8 is the ask apparently?

It's an excellent point and I agree with it...all the more so considering JK's contract value.britishblue wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 10:57 am I keep flip flopping on this, and i think it all comes down to Dobsons contract value.

I find myself in agreement. Maybe there is another option out there that isn’t immediately obvious right now. We have a lot of contracts coming due and I for one would really like to keep Fowler, Broberg, and Holloway. A wise use of our cap space will be key to bringing our key players back.

Excellent points. A lot of the same hype around Darnell Nurse and look how that turned out. Not saying Dobson is Nurse but his performance this past season should bring pause and anyone rushing headlong into giving him double digit AAV long term now is taking a huge risk even more so if Kyrou is the chip.MandatoryDenial wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 12:16 pmdhsux wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 11:39 amIt's an excellent point and I agree with it...all the more so considering JK's contract value.britishblue wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 10:57 am I keep flip flopping on this, and i think it all comes down to Dobsons contract value.

I'm pretty high on Broberg, you never know but his start to this season was fire and I thought he was close to getting that level back a lot of different times. So Broberg I think will get better and I think Fowler will be good but not better than he was this season.britishblue wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 11:01 amDepends on his PP useage i reckon.skilles wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 10:56 am40-50 points sounds about right but I wouldn't expect the same 60ish point pace. Never know though, I certainly would not expect him to exceed last year performance but he'll be good.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 10:38 amCam Fowlers success was no fluke, he just had a 48 pt season in Ana on a (bleep) team, hes an exceptional defenseman finally on a really good squad. You can bank on Fowler to again be in that 40-50 pt area providing he can play 70+ games which hes done three of the last four years. He actually averaged two fewer minutes per game in STL which is probably beneficial to him at this point in his career. Im hoping to see Fowler as the #1 PP QB with Broberg actually 2ndbud white wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 10:31 amFowler has terrific offensive skills, sense and awareness. Regardless he is the best LHD we have had since JayBo which makes him the 2nd best LHD the Blues have had in the last 20 years.
It also helps that Broberg should continue to improve so we can actually shelter his minutes as he ages (not that he needs that).
Edit: I also thought EJ was a for sure superstar after his Rookie season and I really still can't believe he wasn't.

Broberg showed some compete which I liked, but he really needs to improve defensive awareness and strengthskilles wrote: ↑27 Jun 2025 12:34 pmI'm pretty high on Broberg, you never know but his start to this season was fire and I thought he was close to getting that level back a lot of different times.
