Furthermore, there is no more risk than usual. Maybe the Isles don't want to get into that kind of contract. They are probably drafting Matthew Schaefer. Maybe the Isles know it will be a few years before they are ready to make a run, and they don't want to waste an asset. If it doesn't look like he'll sign with the Blues, they can trade him at the deadline.

Maybe the #19, a prospect like Pekarcik or maybe Jiricek, and a roster dman.hockey jedi wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:07 pmDo you think Bolduc and a prospect?Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:06 pm I think Army might be able to get it done without moving Kyrou. I’ll put my faith in Army.

Rumor has it(highly unsubstantiated rumor), State Farm and a 1st was on the table.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:34 pmMaybe the #19, a prospect like Pekarcik or maybe Jiricek, and a roster dman.hockey jedi wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:07 pmDo you think Bolduc and a prospect?Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:06 pm I think Army might be able to get it done without moving Kyrou. At that price, I'd be willing to bite. But I don't know how much more I'd be willing to offer.

I’m not saying that I am in favor of the trade…but Kyrou would almost HAVE to be included or the money doesn’t work.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:06 pm I think Army might be able to get it done without moving Kyrou. I’ll put my faith in Army.
The Blues don’t have enough money to pay Holloway, Broberg, AND Dobson. Something has to give and salary has to be moved out. No way Bolduc is dealt (instead of Kyrou) unless Faulk or someone else is going to the Isles….
If you are the Isles, why would you do that?
I really like Dobson, but I really question spending that much money on a new deal and a cost controlled 35G/yr winger for a pacifist defenseman. He hits no one. This defense needs someone who will be physical…Tucker isn’t enough.

That's a heck of a deal for the Isles if true. Their GM said he wasn't trading #1 but still hope to make a splash in the first round. Jake loves being a Blue. He will be a mess if he gets traded. We don't need any Pekars on the Blues.

Yeah I think it would be something like that, I don't think Dobson will sign a contract that warrants the huge return a lot of people think but you never know.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:34 pmMaybe the #19, a prospect like Pekarcik or maybe Jiricek, and a roster dman.hockey jedi wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:07 pmDo you think Bolduc and a prospect?Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:06 pm I think Army might be able to get it done without moving Kyrou. If he wants so much money the Islanders don't want to sign him I doubt other teams are looking to trade huge pieces for that unless he'll sign somewhere else cheaper and just wants off the Island. Either way his contract demands will have a lot to do with the return.

We have the Krug LTIR to use this year and could easily dump off Joseph and/or Texier to add another 5 mil.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:39 pmI’m not saying that I am in favor of the trade…but Kyrou would almost HAVE to be included or the money doesn’t work.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:06 pm I think Army might be able to get it done without moving Kyrou. For next year; the Cap is set to go up by 9 mil for 26-27(104 mil).
Leddy, Joseph, Toro, Sunny, Fowler and Walker are UFA's.
All told, the Blues will have almost 50 mil in Cap space next off-season(49.575 mil).

I'm not even remotely worried about getting those 2 signed plus Dobson(if it actually happens).

Re: Report: Habs, Blues among teams in trade talks for Islanders' Dobson
Dobson will be expensive. DA's most recent interview stated that he is willing to pay the forecasted going rate for the right player. On the other hand, DA has gotten to this point before but usually he has a hard line that he will not cross. We should know relatively soon.
Re: Report: Habs, Blues among teams in trade talks for Islanders' Dobson
Personally, I think that's a LOT more palatable than anything involving Kyrou.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:47 pmMan….im just not a fan of that deal.kimzey59 wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:37 pmRumor has it(highly unsubstantiated rumor), State Farm and a 1st was on the table.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:34 pmMaybe the #19, a prospect like Pekarcik or maybe Jiricek, and a roster dman.hockey jedi wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:07 pmDo you think Bolduc and a prospect?Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:06 pm I think Army might be able to get it done without moving Kyrou. Hurts the 3rd line(until Stenberg arrives), but keeps the Kyrou/Hollywood pairing in tact.
Re: Report: Habs, Blues among teams in trade talks for Islanders' Dobson
What about something like Bolduc or Neighbours plus Faulk for Dobson and Mayfield? So they get a second pair RD that isn't a bad value for only 2 years and we eat the (bleep) contract they gave Mayfield. Having him as 3RD wouldn't be the end of the world.
Re: Report: Habs, Blues among teams in trade talks for Islanders' Dobson
Something to think heavily about is even though contracts will seem high this year its only going to go up, up, up. Now is as good of a time as any to get it done.kimzey59 wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:54 pmWe have the Krug LTIR to use this year and could easily dump off Joseph and/or Texier to add another 5 mil.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:39 pmI’m not saying that I am in favor of the trade…but Kyrou would almost HAVE to be included or the money doesn’t work.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 20:06 pm I think Army might be able to get it done without moving Kyrou. Re: Report: Habs, Blues among teams in trade talks for Islanders' Dobson
Strick reporting that Dobson is asking for north of $10 million.
Thats just not likely to bring a huge return IMO if its true
Dobson has quite a bit of leverage here for being a UFA.
