Freddy Gaudreau to Seattle

Post by kimzey59 »

for a 4th

Nice low-cost move for Seattle; but their forward ranks are pretty jammed up right now. Already at 14 forwards with no room for any of their million prospects to break into the lineup.
Gotta think they've got something else brewing, especially with the state of their defense.

I would take Schwartz back.

Schwartz, Dunn, McCann for Kyrou and Krug

Honestly, I'm wondering if Shane Wright isn't being shopped.
Not that I think he'd be a particularly great fit here, but his Draft pedigree carries some weight.

I don't see why he'd be a bad fit, but I didn't think about him being shopped at all. Have to wonder what the ask would be. I mean really it would surprise me to see them move him after signing Beniers to that big contract and they both had the same amount of production but with Wright only at 14min a game.

Undersized, not particularly good defensively, not good at faceoff's

I don't think he'd be any different than Granlund or Pius Suter, but he's still not the "true 2-way center" that I think we really need.

However, he is young enough to coach him up to make those changes.

If it isn't cost prohibitive definitely worth looking at.

Maybe not this year, but he's only 21 and is the same size as Thomas, who was poor at faceoffs at that age as well. I'll take your word on his overall game, but I wouldn't mind having 2 Thomas' and a Dvorsky.

Pretty good deal for Seattle. Gaudreau is a solid bottom 6 forward with some size and bite to his game. 35-40 point forward in 3 of the last 4 years and only $2.1 million for 2 more seasons. Good trade for Kraken.
