The games the PD/CT play

Post by imetsatchelpaige »

I get incredibly tired of this time wasting garbage.
I will cancel, and they will come back with something approaching reasonable. Because $20/month is not.
To continue to bring the best news report in St. Louis, effective 07/13/2025 your subscription rate will change to $19.96 every 4 weeks. Your next charge will reflect this new rate.
The new price reflects the complete value of STLtoday as the unmatched source for news & sports coverage of the St. Louis region
So I try to cancel. And this:

Ridiculous, game playing, corporate mental masturbation.

So basically $10 per month. They are charging me $24.92 per month for digital.

I did, they want me to pay $5 per week. I just sent an email telling them to either low the price below that or cancel it.

Now my question is, what happens if you cancel? Can you still access CT, post and reply? Can you still read the articles, just more ads?

Went ahead an canceled. The best they offered me was $5 a week. So if I disappear, it'll be temporary.

You can still do forums with no subscription, you just can't read most of the articles anymore... maybe not participate in the live chats but I haven't tried in years anyway so can't confirm.

And I can say from experience that Derrick Goold is very good at tweeting out super compelling summaries of his articles without giving you almost anything of substance for free... which makes for a pretty frustrating freeloader experience. Props to you Derrick

How is it time wasting? How long to just delete an email or block them so you don't ever see it? Those 3-5 seconds must be torture.

Truly horrible first world problems. I am so sorry for your pain.

I'm certainly not saying you're doing this, but it's amazing to me how many people get FURIOUS with Goold for referring them to his articles for answers to their questions instead of just answering their tweets. Good grief, people, do you work for free? Why do they expect Derrick to?

I get momentarily frustrated but absolutely respect the hustle. It's not like he's a public servant, he works for a private media company and his info/sources are proprietary. He's doing exactly what he should be doing under the circumstances, and he's smart enough to do it very well.

My props were sincere!
