Strange choice all around but he has my utmost confidence out of any living director, so I'm presuming he knows what he's doing. And even though I'm pretty "meh" on the Bond franchise overall, if there's anyone who can make it interesting and artful it's him. It'll at the very least look spectacular.

Very intriguing news, as long as he gets Dune: Messiah completed first. If the timing had worked out better, he could have had a set piece for his first Bond film at Bezos' wedding.

I'm guessing this will come before Dune 3... Most recent reports have said he doesn't have a script completed yet, and he could very well not have much urgency about it since the story takes place several years after the events of 1 & 2. A side effect of not being urgent about it is that all the actors get to age naturally... save on makeup costs

Yeah, that's interesting. The Bond movie has nothing but a director at this point. Dune 3 is still slated for the end of 2026, and they're at least casting. (In fact, they just cast the twins, who will be 9 at the beginning of the story, so that suggests they don't plan to take time off.)

I'd wager Messiah comes out first, but we'll see how quickly the Amazon producers get their [shirt] together.

Wasn't aware of those updates from Dune 3, so yeah you're probably right. Sounds like this Bond announcement is somewhere on the spectrum between the certainty of Dune 3 and the speculative drops that Disney would put out re: Star Wars every year or two. How many of those SW trilogies (Rian Johnson! No wait the GOT guys! No wait!...) are we actually gonna get?

 I'm pretty sure I was signed to develop a Star Wars project at one point. Now, every time I call Lucasfilm, KK answers "new phone, who dis?"
