A must win today.

Post by illiniriles »

162 game season? True, but if we lose today, the first 2 wins of the series will have meant nothing. Seems like we played with no heart last night. I know I'm going to butcher his name, but Shoda Imanagua is coming back for the Cubs on like a 75 pitch count limit. He throws high fastballs in the low to mid nineties. Should be ready for that and knock him around. Need to get this win to kinda get into their heads like they did to us in 2015? when we won over 100 and they beat us in the playoffs. Madden managed the Cubs perfectly that year. It's time for Marmol to step up for the Redbirds. Just win, baby.

The first 2 wins will have actually still meant that we got 2 win totals added in the standings and we arent just concede the season if we lose.

So no its not a must win.

A must win for your mental state? Maybe. A must win for any type of logical reason, no.

If you're 4 games out on Labor Day you can be in the thick of it. It's silly to suggest a game in June is critical, let alone a must win. Sure it would be great if they win but that's about it. Me thinks you must listen to 101 where often a particular series or road trip will define the season.

+1

They already accomplished what they absolutely needed from this series. Any more wins are a cherry on top.

First 2 wins of a 4 game series is meaningless? Wrong. The Cardinals needed at least a split. They've already accomplished that. This team is anything but heartless.

Not a must win, but it would be a bit of a disappointment to finish with a split after taking the first two.

It'd sure be nice to get the win today and have a 3 out of 4 series win. Might help get some more fans interested with this team.
Mood wise, it'd be an upper. Wouldn't hurt with the trash talking when kidding around with some loco Cub fans, lol.
It's not too late for a traditional June swoon for the Cubs.
C'mon Cards!

I look at it like we've still got four games left (three at Wrigley next weekend) in this quick turnaround series.

So you want no worse than two wins vs the scrubbies by the time the 4th of July weekend is over.

Winning today would take the pressure off having to win two of three in Chitown.

But however they get them, let's just hope the Birds' do no worse than 2-2 over these next four games vs the scrubs.

The schedules turn around after this series. We get easier they get harder. By the fourth, we could be within two if all goes well.

Cubs view it like you- win today and get us at home next weekend. It’s a big game for them. Needs to be big for us.

By my count we have now failed 37 times this season on "must wins."

We saw that last night from the very first pitch.

They smacked the Cardinals in the mouth and Cards couldn't get up off the mat.

Need a good one today from your pal, Pallante.

And somehow have to hope Imanoga is rusty.

Yea I’m nervous. My boy has to perform today- at home- Cubs. He’s a number four. I need five plus innings at 4 runs or less.

The cubs starter. The longer we can keep him on the mound the better. Id bunt him to death. Make him move and throw.

He will only go five at best. Let’s hope it ain’t five shutout innings.

For a rebuild, the Cardinals are doing amazingly well. They are actually chasing a spot in the tournament. It would be a little disappointing for a series split after winning the first two, but not a must win today.

+1 especially when they could have gained ground and end up right back where they started. Splitting the series is what the team you’re chasing hopes for
