At least he gets all the ice cream he can eat. Oh, wait. That's for tonsils. But seriously, I realize that he has not played up to his potential this year however, he has single-handedly won 2 big games for us this year. All reports are, that he's a terrific kid and a very hard worker. I'm still pulling for him. He certainly couldn't have "toughed it out" and played through this condition. My hope is that he fully recovers and is given all the time he needs. Then gets back in shape. Then he listens to Jon Jay and gets his timing back. Then gets some confidence and harnesses that wealth of talent. Then, maybe he can have a really nice 2nd half for the Redbirds. If we're going to compete, we're going to need him. I prefer that our first rounders survive and thrive. I don't want to give up on him and trade him.

You do not get overnight treatment for an appendicitis. I was in the hospital five days, although it was many years ago.

Used to be a 5 inch scar and a weeks hospital stay...very painful recovery...now it's outpatient and a quick recovery for most...Matt Holiday if I remember correctly had it done as a cardinal and was back really quick...

They compete just fine without a poor fielding RFer and an even worse, 58 OPS+ hitter, with a -1.0 WAR. To think he's a needed cog at this point, with those numbers, would mean the Cards truly suck.

Sorry JW nuthuggers, this should cause the kid to get what he needs when done recovering...go on an extended minor league stay, starting in AA, and not moving upward to AAA, till he proves he can rake and field.
