I'm I'm acquiring Dobson, Faulk is absolutely going the other way as he would no longer be needed, and the Isle would need a right handed Dman.hockey jedi wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 12:34 pm i don't see the value in trading Faulk unless you just want to rid yourself of payroll. He is worth more to us than a trade would bring right now. Consider trading Faulk at the deadline if demand is there.
However, if would be willing to trade Bolduc instead of Jirisek to the Isles, but they don't get Ellis in the deal. Bolduc would be reunited with Roy and Bolduc's brother is in their organization as well. I hate giving up Boldy, but his absence is less of a hole to fill than a top four right defenseman.

Moving Faulk would also be needed to add a salary like what Dobson reportedly wants. Unless we moved out Texier and Joseph in the deal a big salary would have to go. We couldn't afford to keep Hofer and grab a 3C / keep Faksa otherwise.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 12:51 pmI'm I'm acquiring Dobson, Faulk is absolutely going the other way as he would no longer be needed, and the Isle would need a right handed Dman.hockey jedi wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 12:34 pm i don't see the value in trading Faulk unless you just want to rid yourself of payroll. I think that's what is spurring all of the talk, yeah. He certainly makes sense in a lot of ways. It's a longterm position of need for the Blues and he fits perfectly age-wise. Those guys don't become available often.Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 13:06 pm https://x.com/nhlrumourreport/status/19 ... 12656?s=46

Can someone that has watched dobson play more than just against the blues give me a breakdown of his defensive play? Only reason i ask is because i believed him to be a big mobile 2way d. Checked a couple blues rumors YouTube vids and there are islander fans saying “not worth 9 or 10mil” “defensive liability” are these people right, wrong or just fans that will never be happy?
Re: Noah Dobson, RD, 1 year til UFA
I read another article praising him. But also saying he can be overworked. So you have to manage his minutes somewhat.
On a sidenote. In fantasy hockey he was one of my best defenders. I have drafted him the last few years. 2nd last year and 1st this year.
In my mind... Hes a complete stud. Plays very good d and great offense. He would do well in a Blue note.
Hes 25--so not quite a finished product.
Original prognosis:
A talented two-way defenceman that can play in all situations and stay productive. Uses his edges well and is, for the most part, a very smooth skater; however, as he gets stronger and adjusts to a more up-tempo style of hockey, he will need to work on his speed in gap-closing. Offensively, he utilizes his keen sense of awareness to be in the right spot at the right time, every time. Soft hands and a deadly shot accentuate his ability to get creative, on occasion. Rock solid defensively, his strong positioning severely limits time and space for the opposition. All-in-all, a well-rounded, reliable, and consistent defenceman that can log a lot of ice time and provide his team with a stable presence on the back end. (Curtis Joe, EP 2017)

I mean there are still people here that think Petro sucked and he wasn't worth the money....People actually thought Faulk was better so I wouldn't read to much into that.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:01 pm Can someone that has watched dobson play more than just against the blues give me a breakdown of his defensive play? I caught a handful of Islanders game on tv this year and he looked respectable. He wasn't Slavin out there pulling off defensive miracles, but he wasn't Shattenkirk either. I think his defensive analytics took a step forward this year as well. That might also be part of why he went from 70 points to 39.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:01 pm Can someone that has watched dobson play more than just against the blues give me a breakdown of his defensive play? I'm not sold he's a 10M defenseman, but we do not currently have a RHD anywhere near his mix of young age and ability.

I'd say we are about to find out 10 million ain't what it used to be.bluetunehead wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:38 pmI caught a handful of Islanders game on tv this year and he looked respectable. I'm wondering if something in the 8/$8M range isn't close for him.bluetunehead wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:38 pmI caught a handful of Islanders game on tv this year and he looked respectable. We most definitely are. The next 3 years are going to explode the concept of what a reasonable contract should be.skilles wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:44 pmI'd say we are about to find out 10 million ain't what it used to be.bluetunehead wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:38 pmI caught a handful of Islanders game on tv this year and he looked respectable. I think it would be without the cap increases. With the cap increases over the length of that conract I think you're looking at $9M if not $9.5-10M.zamadoo wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:45 pmI'm wondering if something in the 8/$8M range isn't close for him.bluetunehead wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:38 pmI caught a handful of Islanders game on tv this year and he looked respectable. Edit: Bouchard's extension will probably set the market for Dobson.

I like the 6' 4" part of his game. Good wingspan on the back line.
