What is to much? Gonna have to do something with the defense soon and I don't think thats ever going to be easy or cheap. I really like the idea of being set at RD and center. Losing a guy like Kyrou hurts but that spot is so much easier to fill or at least partially fill.

i would love Dobson. Would also not mind JGP for his 1 year remaining at 5M. Send NYI Kryou, Faulk or Leddy, throw in maybe two prospects like Stancl and Stenberg and a pick.

Since we can't afford the contracts anyways, I'd rather just take Pageau, keep the prospects, and move out who we need to however we can to be cap compliant after signing Dobson to a mega deal.

Probably right. Horvat is a beast and he's probably not going anywhere. Him and Barzal are the two offensive studs on Islanders.

Trading Dobson for Kyrou and shipping out Horvat at the same time basically negates any offensive gain for them.

The Isles GM stated he's not trading the overall first, but he'd still like to make a splash in the draft as well. The Blues send our first this year, Jirisek and Ellis and we get Dobson. He was picked at 12 and we are giving them 19. Jirisek nicely fills the gap between the two draft slots. Also, they get two prospects as well.

His salary demands will scare some GM's away. I know we have to pay Broberg still, but we will have Faulk coming off the books in two years and Krug coming off this year. Cam will probably get a 2-3 year deal at reasonable money ($4 million or less). The only other defenseman signed long term in Colton. We have the room to sign Dobson. He fills a need for the future and this is Army's kind of deal.

I really don't think the Isles would argue that at all.

i don't see the value in trading Faulk unless you just want to rid yourself of payroll. He is worth more to us than a trade would bring right now. Consider trading Faulk at the deadline if demand is there.

However, if would be willing to trade Bolduc instead of Jirisek to the Isles, but they don't get Ellis in the deal. Bolduc would be reunited with Roy and Bolduc's brother is in their organization as well. I hate giving up Boldy, but his absence is less of a hole to fill than a top four right defenseman.
