victor scott strikes out way too much

Post by jbrach »

the guy is striking out 1 in 3 at bats...acceptable maybe if he is hitting 40 homers but for a guy whose game is speed and has zero power it is unacceptable...his time in the big leagues will be short if he doesnt change this...he also needs to learn how to bunt and when to bunt

What a weapon to have if he turned into even just a great bunter

Still very young.
Hoping Brown can get him to hit the ball the other way much more.
Too pull happy.
Actually all the pop ups and cans of corn bug me more than the K’s.
He should be getting more IF hits!

High floor due to speed and defense. That will buy him time to learn to hit. Ozzie did it; Yadi did it; but not many do.

If he doesn't learn to hit, his career will last only as long as his elite speed does.

Even Vince Coleman wasn't much good after age 28.

Bader's flame is burning pretty low these days.

He's pretty much the same as Brock at age 24, except he strikes out more, but has an OBA about 30 higher. His stolen base proficiency is a lot better.

It's what you produce per out, not what you produce per type of out.

He is one of those type players I really pull for to succeed.

they signed hampson so he can spell Scott more and have a pulse at the plate. Scott is going up against a lot of tough pitchers when he should be sitting some of those out and yes, needs to be bunting and slapping ball other way. Rather than taking too big a swing. But he is young and defense/speed plays.

barrero was never a major league level player and no factor at all. glad they dumped him. Hampton sounds like a really good teammate and can fill in literally anywhere but catcher.

I've got VS2 penciled in CF on any moving forward projection I do as long as he's cost controlled. His plus tools and affordability play.

Runway season for VSII

Still plays elite defense in CF and of course is a stolen base machine when he gets on.

He's not hurting the team.

Only thing I wish he'd do is simply square around and get into a bunting stance instead of waiting to the last moment.

With his speed, even if they know it's coming he's still got a shot and at worse he'd advance the runner.

MLB 9th hitters are posting .232 .295 .342 .637

VSII is posting .242 .331 .326 .657

A cost-controlled GG caliber CF who wreaks havoc on the basepaths, posting above league-average offense for the 9th batting slot, is not an issue.

Exactly. Kinda like Pallante at a stud number four is not an issue.

Both of these examples are good things.

Couldn't you say that about any ballplayer? 8O
