Hall of Fame Announcements Tuesday: Big phone call for Walt?

Post by Pink Freud »

Could be a big day for several players we watched from their rookie year: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/644379 ... ak-debate/

Only way he gets in without paying is getting invited to his kids ceremony if they get in.

I'm not the biggest Tkachuk fan but 500+ goals AND being one of the premiere Power Forwards in the league should make him a HOF...I think 500 goals should get you in.

He should have been elected years ago.

He always struck me as an elite talent that under-delivered when it counted. For example, avoided the dirty zones, though he had the mass, strength & talent to prosper there - kind of an enigma. The proof of his genes is in his sons, who imo exceed him in the heart dept.

That said, only 48 players in NHL history have > 500 regular season goals, so that puts him in some high company. I might not being fair to him, but that's based upon what I considered to be his potential vs performance, particularly in the play-offs. He was pretty abysmal for the Blues in post-season. Maybe that's why he's not in.

There are four players, including KT, on that list not in the HHOF.

Some of you guys couldn’t score 500 goals playing knee hockey in your hallways…500 goals as a premier power forward in his era…gets him in IMO.

Did you watch him play before he came here?
He lived in front of the cage. He didn't have much of a shot so he had to score from in close.
Ask Foote, Hatcher, or any other of the big d-men of his era how hard he was to handle in front of the net.
Walt didn't play on the half boards during a power play. He was always in front of the goalie.
Check out some YouTube videos.

They should have a regular season wing for the HoF and he can be in there with Hellebuyck

Showed up as a professional to camp at 280+ pounds

Pathetic playoff performances

Never won

On an unrelated note, I was talking to him when a guy was stabbed directly in front of us. It was bananas. Every time I see him at games I think about that night

I don’t really kept up with the HHOF stuff. Who are even the main 1st year eligibles this year?

I wouldn’t hate it if Walt got in but to me he’s more Hall of Very Good.

To me, Zetterberg and Mogilny should be in. Surprised they keep getting passed over.

I don't know if he gets in without any cups or MVPs. You got to rate him with the era he played in and he kinda of comes up short. Mogilny too.

HH you know a lot more about this game than I do. Didn’t watch much w/ the Jets & Yotes. W our team, he seemed to prefer the slot to the crease.

Fair enough.
He was past his prime when he got here but at least helped us get to the conference finals for the first time in years.

He was also moved to center late in his career.
When he was in his prime he was a beast to handle.
