Don’t we have to acquire another RW?

Post by Galatians221jb1 »

I mean we are loaded with lefty shooting forwards. Holloway, Bolduc, Buchnevich, Neighbors, Schenn are all lefties. Only Kyrou and Snuggs are right handed in the top three lines. As much as I’d love to see us trade Kyrou for Brady, that would leave us with almost all lefty forwards. Zach Dean is a lefty. Dvorsky is a lefty. I know we need a #2 center but right wing seems mighty thin. Am I overlooking someone?

OK, so don't trade for BT. Sunny is a RH shot. Blues also have guys that are reasonably comfortable playing their off-wing. Buchnevich for one has a lot of experience on the right side.

No. You don’t have to shoot right handed to play RW. Both Buchy and Bolduc played mostly RW last season.

On the wing we have Holloway, Kyrou, Buchnevich, Neighbours, Bolduc and Snuggerud. Kyrou and Snuggerud will obviously play RW and then one of the lefties, likely either Buchy or Bolduc will play the right side too. That had our wingers covered in our top-9.

For the 4th line, Toropchenko usually plays the left side. But assuming Sunny plays more 4th line this season, he’s a righty and would slot in at RW if/when he’s not playing C.

Dingo played almost exclusively RW last year. That’s your 4th RW(unless Faksa comes back then it’s probably him and Sunny splitting time).

Handedness does not matter for wingers very often. Most shooters prefer their off wing.

the RW side is fine now with Kryou, Snuggerud who shoot right and Bolduc who can play RW probably better than Buch or Neighbours but on the 3rd line probably doesnt matter.
I would say its important on the PP and not every forward or defenseman are as effective on their off wing

The Athletic put out an article today listing the Blues as having the third best set of wingers behind only Tampa and Florida.

Theres a chance this team can be really good next year. Speed, skill, gritty with solid D, we will see but fans should be excited

Absolutely. With a couple of tweaks, reasonable health, and no major down seasons the Blues will be right in the mix.
