Kyrou is way better than Zegras
Agree. I still can't fathom why so many otherwise knowledgeable posters are trying to get rid of our best goalscorer.
I still can't fathom why the qualifications about his current value at his cap hit, the Blues franchise needs at RD, Kyrou's inability to stop a trade for the next seven days, the fact that the 2021 and 2022 first round picks both play Kyrou's position and have shown in the last few months of that season that the Blues could safely move Kyrou and probably be okay at RW .... are just unable to be held by the brain and it's lazily reduced to "trying get rid of."
Because posters on here have been trying to move him for a lot longer than the situations you describe. There was a time people were suggesting a bag of pucks and a used washing machine, so I’d cut Aesa a little slack.
I’m only moving him if there’s elite talent coming back

Fair enough, it was the "otherwise knowledgeable posters" part because I try to be a knowledgeable poster if I can and I have also discussed trading Kyrou, but for reasons and for strategy. Felt like it was a broad characterization

It’s pretty simple…can you make your team better by trading him? If you can, you do it. If you can’t, then you don’t.
No disagreement there but where are you going to find that player that improves the team significantly enough to warrant the trade in today's market without gutting your prospects and future draft picks?

If we trade Kyrou we won't be gutting anything. A young 30 goal scorer with 5 years left on a deal that is at/below market value is a pretty valuable trade chip.
Depending on the player, yes we might have to add but nothing of massive significance.

Well that is because when reasonable and rational people talk about trading for really valuable assets they understand really valuable assets are probably going to have to go the other way.

Don’t know..that’s up to Army. I’m on record stating that id only trade him for Brady.

Zegras is trash. Nothing but a pond hockey player.
Yep. He was never going to play for Q. And this trade wouldn't have happened if Torts was running Philly.
Zegras and Tochett seem like a bad match too.
Then again, Zegras with pretty much any coach that cares about defense (all coaches), seems like a bad match.
Anaheim is getting raked over the coals here but I think it’s a fair trade. Then again, I think Zegras is a cr@p hockey player. One dimensional, small wingers that are trash when they’re not scoring just aren’t that useful IMO.

Two years ago there was a large contingent here that would have traded him for a used jock polisher. They didn't care, it was "Addition by Subtraction" and it got heated many times. It picked up after his comments when Chief got fired. People who were against dumping him got piled on so some are still "twitchy". I hear what your saying about being able to replace him, and, would agree if it bring something of equal quality. Something tells me that isn't happening. We'll see.
