Winn jogging: "following orders". Marmol incompetent.
During the broadcast yesterday, all 3 members of the broadcast team discussed and supported Winn jogging lazily to 1B during the prior game - something he has done repeatedly.
They quoted The Marmot as claiming Winn was merely following the orders of the coaching staff, essentially saying the staff wants him to jog to 1B (and take other plays off as well) because they rely on him so heavily.
According to the reporting, because he plays so many innings, because the season is long, because it is hot, because they want him to protect his lower body, he has been told to save his energy, and to "save his bullets" for when needed.
Two points.
It is disgusting that the broadcasters know full well this is complete nonsense and that Winn has been given no such instruction - and not only reported it but defended it as being smart and necessary.
Flat out telling the audience something they did not believe; something antithetical to how the game should be played.
Zero integrity.
Two, neither Marmol nor the staff have told Winn any such thing.
It is obvious The Marmot anticipated the question and rather than telling the truth ("Winn's lack of effort was not acceptable and we have talked about that"), he had devised a long, detailed, nonsensical story designed to protect his player from criticism.
Just the latest in an unending list of examples as to why the man should be fired.

+1...But DeTwit and Mo-ran continue to support this clown...I'm part of a season tix group in Section 148...and most people are (upset) ...that's why they were booed on opening night...no one cares about their records over the last 10 years...Melville wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 07:48 am During the broadcast yesterday, all 3 members of the broadcast team discussed and supported Winn jogging lazily to 1B during the prior game - something he has done repeatedly.

Have the crowds been large average or small in your view from section 148 ?WLTFE wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 07:55 am+1...But DeTwit and Mo-ran continue to support this clown...I'm part of a season tix group in Section 148...and most people are (upset) ...that's why they were booed on opening night...no one cares about their records over the last 10 years...Melville wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 07:48 am During the broadcast yesterday, all 3 members of the broadcast team discussed and supported Winn jogging lazily to 1B during the prior game - something he has done repeatedly.

Some of you people have to have your whipping boy. Remember the "Yadi doesn't hustle" crowd? How many others have their been? He plays a lot, he dives for balls, he never gives away an at bat, but hey, it's 90+ out side with humidity so thick you could cut it with a knife and no understanding form some of you. "He didn't run as hard as I think he should have!" Get a life.

It's called the Yadi treatment...you know full well that certain "special players" receive favoritism and allowances...Melville wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 07:48 am During the broadcast yesterday, all 3 members of the broadcast team discussed and supported Winn jogging lazily to 1B during the prior game - something he has done repeatedly.

Certainly smaller...Opening night to boo DeTwit and Mo-ran...and the Dodgers series with a lot of Dodger blue have been decent crowds...a lot of apathy...most people want Mo-ran gone so he can spend time with his beautiful family. Cubs series will be fun...If they keep winning then we'll see if the regulars return.Honky Tonk Man wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 08:03 amHave the crowds been large average or small in your view from section 148 ?WLTFE wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 07:55 am+1...But DeTwit and Mo-ran continue to support this clown...I'm part of a season tix group in Section 148...and most people are (upset) ...that's why they were booed on opening night...no one cares about their records over the last 10 years...Melville wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 07:48 am During the broadcast yesterday, all 3 members of the broadcast team discussed and supported Winn jogging lazily to 1B during the prior game - something he has done repeatedly.

Losing doesn’t bother Marmol as long as someone learns something. He might actually tell a player something like that. He was laughing with Winn right after the play in the dugout. He’s the big brother they never had.

Leadership like this runs afoul of perfection. A leader should strive to be respected not liked. If your liked, somebody is getting over.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 08:12 am Losing doesn’t bother Marmol as long as someone learns something. This is yet another example of how clueless you are. The Cardinals organization has a history of telling certain players to tone down their hustle when the heat turns up in St. Louis and when they play several games in a row. Molina comes to mind but most likely there are others. It is smart to do so in obvious outs. Still, some want Winn to pull a muscle to get heat stroke.Melville wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 07:48 am During the broadcast yesterday, all 3 members of the broadcast team discussed and supported Winn jogging lazily to 1B during the prior game - something he has done repeatedly.

This. A certain group needs a player to hound. I'm sure they all are exemplary employees at work.CCard wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 08:05 am Some of you people have to have your whipping boy. Ted Simmons was one of my favorite Cardinal players played a demanding position on astroturf and didn't run out every ball either and I know why.
It's a long season and the dog days are just starting. Donovan if folks didn't notice "trotted" down the line too as did others.
Some common sense please.

Speed and ability to run out infield grounders are integral parts of Winn’s game that should not be toned down. Maybe he could’ve reached base then not get caught trying to steal to avoid the heatstroke.Voldemort wrote: ↑22 Jun 2025 08:20 am This is yet another example of how clueless you are.
