Naaa. They would be looking at trading 3 or 4 from their roster as they don't have much in the minors.

They just made the huge trade with Carolina for Rantanen that included their biggest chip in Stankoven, now they just traded Marchment.

What would they have that Edmonton would want that would justify trading McDavid there?

Even if it was a location McDavid would consider extending to, it won't be the only one and odds are the other teams can offer much better.

Rivers and Co were talking a package built around Johnston and Robertson. Two young studs. And that would free the cap space to take on McDavid this year. Makes sense.

That's a lot to give up. Dallas would very quickly become a one line team with little depth, and what depth they had would be 38+ years old.

Hmmm...seems like he would be going from the frying pan into the fire...not a good goalie situation, another very high-priced elite forward on long contract, some very good players that are pushing it age-wise, not much wiggle room to obtain balance and depth, etc. Although he would be in a tax-friendly state so he'll be able to keep more of the money that he so desperately needs "to take care of him and his family."
not a good goalie situation? in Dallas?
Probably not a bad goalie situation to be fair now that Deboer is gone. If he was still Coach, then it could have been a difficult distraction for Oettinger?
