Oilers and free-agent Trent Frederic talking about an eight-year contract. Question is price point. He did not have productive playoff at all with four points but he still figures as third line forward. He is not top 6

Re: Need a laugh
People here don’t understand how contracts are about to change across the board. They act like it’s 2020

Re: Need a laugh
I guess they are doing a little bit of the Tampa thing, trying to trade extra term for lower AAV. But Tampa tried to do it with Stamkos and then did do it with Yanni Gourde. Not sure Trent Frederic is worthy of an 8-yr deal, though! Whatever…..more power to them if they think that makes sense.

Trent Frederic and Edmonton are closing in on an extension which is believed to be an 8 year deal in the range of $4 million per season. #LetsGoOilers

I can see why he would stay there if that's the offer..

The Hawks just signed Donato at four year at four million per.

Re: Need a laugh
8 years @ 4M a year isn't that crazy. It's too many years to be sure, but 4M is going to be a reasonable cap hit for him as long as he's healthy, and by the last few seasons it'll probably be small enough to not be a major issue either way.
Re: Need a laugh
I'm probably devaluing his real worth but I just see him as a plug guy and 8 years....wow.bluetunehead wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 17:23 pm 8 years @ 4M a year isn't that crazy. He could be a TDL deal in 2 or 3 years and the Oilers get out of it.
But if offered he should take it and rest easy.

Think Donato can have a repeat of last year? Or was last year the outlier?BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 17:19 pm The Hawks just signed Donato at four year at four million per.

Re: Need a laugh
Everybody says it's an outlier but the support should be better this season with emerging prospects taking over. The end of the season was really fun to watch as somebody that's been stuck with horrible hockey for a while - the youth have spirit and more than enough talent to keep Donato's numbers similar to last season. He busted his butt and earned it.Backesdraft wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 18:33 pmThink Donato can have a repeat of last year? Re: Need a laugh
Appreciate the insight. He stood out to me when the Blues played the Hawks. If he CAN repeat that’s a heck of a bargain at 4m.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 21:02 pmEverybody says it's an outlier but the support should be better this season with emerging prospects taking over. Re: Need a laugh
If they didn't re-sign him then it would've been a drag on the morale imo - he was consistent all year long and was rewarded. I haven't seen one Hawk fan upset and that's rare...Backesdraft wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 21:12 pmAppreciate the insight. He stood out to me when the Blues played the Hawks.
