John Tavares
Guy is going to be 35 later this year.
His numbers are awesome. Future Hall of Famer. Awesome faceoff percentage.
Could he be our second line center for the right price?
What will he command? 6.5M for 2 years enough for his ol as s?

Re: John Tavares
He just wrapped up and $11 million dollar contract coming off a 74 pt season. Good idea but him taking anything near $6.5 would really surprise me. $9-$10 i could totally see someone offering.

Re: John Tavares
Start having the Robert Thomas' of the world "accidently" bump into him in Toronto and having a nice long chat.

Re: John Tavares
Do you honestly think that gets it done? What was the salary cap when Kariya signed that contract?
My guess at his next contract is $8M x 3.

Re: John Tavares
I don’t think that gets it done..that’s just what I would offer him. Maybe you can sell him on the market here. He’d probably like some quiet for once compared to what he gets in Toronto.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 13:58 pmDo you honestly think that gets it done? Re: John Tavares
It was $50.3 in 2007/08. So, $6M is about 12%.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 13:58 pmDo you honestly think that gets it done? What was the salary cap when Kariya signed that contract?

That would mean 12% of $95.5 would be $11.46M.

Re: John Tavares
He's played his entire long career in big cities New York and Toronto and he hails from Mississauga, I doubt he has St. Louis on his radar. As a player he would certainly be interesting but salary wise does he fit in the plan?
Re: John Tavares
I can't see him being motivation to leave his home town or a team that is one of the tops in the league. For hope to make playoffs in St. Louis.
Theres only one old guy I'd want to bring in, and that would be to costly.
We should only be looking to trade away our first, and some b prospects, like Dean. A 2nd this year and a first for next would be a great summer pick up

IMHO, anything under the current 8.5M RT makes fits "the plan" so long as it isn't for more than 2-3 years. By then, RT and Kyrou should still be in their prime years, while Bolduc, Neighbours, and Holloway are entering theirs', and Dvorsky is established.

Re: John Tavares
Tavares has made a lot of money in his career and has played on his dream team, but he has never won the Cup. This is plausibly his last contract.
If he leaves Toronto and/or if he takes a discount anywhere, it's because he believes that team can win the Cup while he's there. I like where our team is going, but I'd probably not put us at the top of that list yet.

that could work i guess the Blues have about $11.5 ish in space they could run with the (7) D they have after Krug is put on LTIR again or still use the left over cap to find a cheaper vet RHD

Re: John Tavares
75 playoff games, 53 points and - 20..
Puke, pass & perish.
Blues are an up and coming team and shouldn’t have to rely on 8 mil has beens and playoff never weres.

Re: John Tavares
Getting any free agent for the "right price" is probably not happening this year.
Re: John Tavares
Yeah I'd hate to see 8M+ dropped on a player on the back side of his career. He did produce this past season but we are talking about the 3-4 years ahead.
Personally I'd prefer a trade that could bring a strong mid aged RH D guy into the fold for waht JT is going to cost which might be well more than 8M.
