6 IP, 13 K....no-no still intact...I think it's 6 IP Perfecto. I haven't see a box score with HBP or Error...no type of interference
He's a 16 K/9, 2 BB/9.....ERA is 5+, but that K/BB ratio is eye popping

Some team will overreact to his postseason and draft him mid 1st round. Think Will Bednar, Giants in 2021....MSU stud pitcher who went wild in the post season and outshined Rocker and Leiter
8 IP, 16 K no-no still going, HBP happened in the 8th.....105 pitches, 73 strikes
Ark 3, Murray St. 0 ***FINAL***

Gage Wood ~ 9 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 19 K, 1 HBP
Nice time to have a breakout like this right before the draft

I've really come back around on wanting Jamie Arnold at 5. I believe he's a victim of prospect fatigue as he's had back-to-back sub 3.00 ERA years now. He just doesn't have the fastball of Doyle or the 4 pitch mix of Anderson. But Doyle and Anderson (while talented) blew up this year and are the hot ticket item getting all the buzz but I still have this thought that Arnold is a very good, almost overlooked pitcher now.

Some things I like about Arnold:
  • Two MLB level pitches already in the fastball and slider. Wish he had a higher whiff rate on the FB but it will play, was up to 97 late in 2024 and saw it 95/96 at the end of 2025
  • Has shown he can handle a workload with top level results in back-to-back years
  • Two great performances to close this year out against MSU and Oregon State
  • I liked his performance against Tennessee last year - he battled and had FSU in a position for the win but his defense really let him down (skewing his stats for the game - missed pop up in the first inning, he had a throwing error, etc) and then the bullpen collapsed
I think he's a guy that moves quickly, especially if he can quickly develop his 3rd pitch changeup. The way I've been leaning lately is Arnold at 5, grabbing a RHP in round 2 such as Marcus Phillips or Anthony Eyanson and then a toolsy OF in the supplemental 2nd like Max Williams, Gavin Turley, or Ethan Frey. Not sure if the money works out as they all would be around slot or above slot, but I like that thought process.

If Arnold is a no go, I like Willits at 5 or also the thought of going underslot with Kyson Witherspoon (bad taste in the mouth with that last performance but I like him a lot otherwise) or JoJo Parker to take some bigger risks in the middle rounds.

Kiley McDaniel's new mock

JoJo Parker, SS, Purvis HS, (MS)

------------

Back in March I talked about the Parker Brothers as potential #55 picks, JoJo vaulted to the top of the first round. Jacob has had a good year in the OF with Purvis and probably ranks around #75-100. Jacob has more power than his brother, but not the hit tool, nor the glove.

McDaniel's reasoning is sound. He perfectly explains what picking in this draft at #5 means, and what will likely open up to us if the trio of LHP is gone. JoJo may indeed be the better hitter of the 3 (Parker, Willits, Carlson)....we'll see how it plays out. I'm not bothered at all by the pick. I like Irish and probably Arquette here, too...if we go the hitter route. Those would be my 5...hitters if Holliday is gone.

Kiley has a Gage Wood bump in his mock, too.

Bodine (Coastal Carolina, C) seeing a bump as well.

RHP Gabe Davis, Okla. State, 6'9", 225lbs. Was touted as one to watch entering the 2025 season, but he underwhelmed much of the year, 5+ ERA, and high walk rate. He did keep his 10 K/9 average from last year.

Baseball America said he impressed yesterday at the 1st day of the Combine. That should help his stock a little....3rd or 4th round pick at best entering yesterday...probably lower. Depending on how much this early buzz blossoms he could get that 3rd round pick? Maybe 2nd round?

It seems to be a foregone conclusion that if Holiday is there at 4, Colorado 100% takes him, right?

that is what everyone is assuming/saying. But who knows? Do they really have that much nostalgia for Holliday? We assume, "yes", but how much time/effort has the Holliday family put into Denver since 2008? I don't think they've done very much.

either way...I can't see him lasting to #5

I agree on the nostalgia argument. Has to be pretty thin at this stage

A few tidbits about why Jo Jo Parker could very well be the Cardinals selection.
Read that he is an outstanding student ! An intangible that sure helps as in sports , how you play above the neck can make a difference between one guy and the next .
2) His body frame will fill out even more increasing his power.
3) While scouting reports mean a lot , his own twin brother knows his game as well as anyone of course Jacob Parker stated ,

"He is one of the best guys to play with because he can really get to the ball defensively," said Jacob Parker. "And it is hard to get him out because he can go to the opposite field, drive it up the middle and put it off the wall. He can really do anything."

Read that scouts loved that he can take a pitch and drive it to the left center field gap . It seems as he fills out even more, he would fit nicelly as a 3rd baseman. Cardinals will have a spot open shortly for that.
His hit tool is as good as any high schooler it appears. Bloom is known to like youngsters with the 'highest ceiling 'and if he thinks long term he has the best bat to ball skills , JoJo could certainly be his choice.

PS JoJo Parker Attached below is video interview of the JoJo & Jacob Parker by Buck Showalter on NFL Network Combine show .

Note: JoJo is the twin sitting next to Buck . Both twins committed to Miss. St. and that is where Buck S. played when he went to college. Humorous ending to video at the end about that. Two very grounded kids . As Buck said, your parents did a great job raising you .
