Hey Duce! What is your opinion of Henderson and Baez? Do you think they have a lot of upside?
Baez does...the better pitching he sees, I think the Chase Rate will creep back up a smidge. But he's heading in a better direction than he was this time last year.
Henderson...I'd like to see him in AAA. That'll give you much better idea as to what he really is. The hitting is night and day between AA and AAA. I'd like to think he's a starter in the big leagues, he's handled every stop really the last 2 seasons.
When he gets to AAA (ABS Challenge is used) and eventually the MLB (ABS Challenge will be in play by then) you'll have a really good look at his living around the edges. He needs those calls to survive. If he's forced to move closer to the center of the plate, then he becomes quite hittable.
I'm game to watch it happen. July is my guess for Ixan in Memphis...hopefully it's an accordion promotion b/c players were traded on the MLB staff

sorry...I jinxed him. Getting hit around a bit against the worst hitting team in the Texas League.....2 runs so far in the 3rd inning. Mautz was destroyed last night by Corpus Christi....I guess they've risen to the occasion this week to try and thwart the Junior Cards playoff push. Spoilers...so to speak.
Carlos Linarez bails him out with a back pick throw into 3B to get the lead runner on a strike out. Phew...saved him indeed. Could've been a worse inning.
Ramon Mendoza ~ 0-1, BB...ground out
Chase Davis ~ 0-0, BB
Carlos Linarez ~ 0-1, K...swinging
Noah Mendlinger ~ 0-2...tapper back to the pitcher
J.J. Wetherholt ~ 0-2...safe on error . Dropped catch by the 1B...Could've been a single, but ruled a receiving error...JJ to 2B
Nathan Church ~ 0-1...fly out to LF
Jose Fermin ~ 1-1, Single...liner into CF
Cesar Prieto ~ 0-1....bloop pop up, Nofolk SS gets spooked by charging OF, covers himself and ball drops in....I guess it touched him? Called an error
Luken Baker ~ 0-1...lineout to CF
Matt Koperniak ~ 0-1...ground out to 3B
“ Through Tuesday’s games, Bernal’s 11 home runs were the most in the Cardinals’ organization, his 41 RBIs in 47 games were the third most and he was hitting .303. He is one of only a few 21-year-old players at the Double A level with that many home runs.”
I don’t think people talk enough about how good this guy has been. And he’s got 24 BB-32 K in 201 PAs.
And I love that story about why he became a switch hitter.
Ramon Mendoza ~ 0-1, BB
Chase Davis ~ 0-1, BB...pop up to pitcher
Josh Baez ~ 0-2, 2 K...more swing and miss. AA might be catching up to him....down to .250 BA .
Jeremy Rivas ~ 0-2...line out to CF
Quin Mathews ~ 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K ... 38 pitches, 24 strikes... the Change-up is divine. Always been good. He has to throw the fastball consistently enough for strikes...if he does that, the world is oyster
