The Panthers culture was changed when Matthew Tkachuk told Calgary that he was not going to sign a long term contract. From the moment of his trade to Florida, it all came together. Three Finals in 3 years and back to back Cups. The year they didn't win was the year he was so beat up, his brother Brady had to dress him and help him get out of bed.
Of course the Cats already had Bobrovsky on a monster deal, and originally, it was not working out well. But when they started playing for each other, that changed as well.
Watching Brady in the stands last night and I thought that gaze had me wonder if he might do the same. His Sens are likely years away from winning a Cup. Now, he does have a no trade effective July 1, 2025. I wonder if he asks to be moved to a team that is closer.

I think they are motivated by different things at least in appearance to the media. Matthew wanted to be somewhere where he would enjoy the experience, that was Florida because of the amenities, St. Louis to be the hometown kid, and whatever spots 3 and 4 were that he reportedly would only go to. Brady SEEMINGLY wants to prove he can resurrect a franchise and get them over the hump. The NTC on July 1 does present an interesting dilemma. He's married to that mission to a degree. Granted people can get out of those it just lessens the value. But, Brady I think finally got them to the playoffs so thinks they can make that turn. Matthew was never excited about his time in Calgary, Brady has made bold claims for the Sens over the last couple seasons.bud white wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 11:13 am The Panthers culture was changed when Matthew Tkachuk told Calgary that he was not going to sign a long term contract. But, I'll say this, especially with what he did at 4nations, he probably is starting to get irritated that his brother gets to have these great runs and he seemingly has the ability to make just as much of an impact.
