Attendance currently 30,000 per game - big homestand upcoming
7 games vs central division. 3 Reds and 5 Cubs. I would expect a boost to that number.
By comparison prior to the universal schedule and universal DH Matheny during his tenure averages 42,000 per game 2nd in MLB. Currently 30,000 per game 13th in MLB.

Get rid of the DH and significantly reduce the number of AL opponents. I'll bet attendance would improve.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 08:56 amYes I’d expect big crowds.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 08:55 am 7 games vs central division. 3 Reds and 5 Cubs. I don’t know. It’s become the norm now in both areas. I don’t think people even notice any more.
Gotta remember most fans are way less into this than we are. They probably don’t know fair from foul.
Interesting thought but how to prove it. Using old data wouldn’t work.

I like getting to play every AL team. It at least gives you a chance to see some of the AL stars every other year. Or in my case I live in Texas and can go to a Cardinals game every other year now in Texas.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 09:08 amGet rid of the DH and significantly reduce the number of AL opponents. I don’t think the DH has anything to do with it. I mean was attendance ever an issue for the AL all the years that just they had it?

The DH has nothing to do with it. The same people who say they won’t go because of the DH are the ones who also say they won’t go because downtown is a post-apocalyptic hellscape.Banner29 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 10:21 amScotchMIrish wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 09:08 amGet rid of the DH and significantly reduce the number of AL opponents. Of course it is. But it’s not going away, and to not go to games because it exists seems silly.Honky Tonk Man wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 10:55 amThe DH is a travestyWLTFE wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 10:38 amdesertrat23 wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 10:35 amThe DH has nothing to do with it. Friday 35 K
Saturday 27 K
Sunday 27 K
Average 30K
4 sellouts vs the Cubs should boost that average but it a division rival like the Reds can't get a bump in attendance it looks like that's were we are. Not a good sign.

there wasn't 30K people at any of the games. i'd wager there wasn't 20K at todays game. they post paid, not butts in the seats, and yes it is a huge difference.
Re: Attendance currently 30,000 per game - big homestand upcoming
Actual attendance Saturday and Sunday probably around 15-20k due to oppressive heat
Why they play Saturday home games during the day makes no sense

I agree with you regarding day games on Saturday in the summer But it was hot in the summer during Matheny's last full season and they averaged 42,000. There is something else going on.
