The Forgotten Prospect; Arseni Koromyslov
Was on a Teams call with one of my closest friends (lives in Prague, and one of the best experts I know in KHL hockey), and he watched a lot of the KHL playoffs, particularly the KHL finals. Koromyslov was the youngest defender for Traktor (who lost in the finals), played on the 2nd pairing and the top PK throughout the playoffs, and was one of only four defenders that played all 21 playoff games.
He was amazed how the 20 year old was beating up on MEN game in and game out, and his overall mobility. He considered him one of Traktor's top defenders, which if you knew Mikael, those are strong words as he thinks teenagers are nothing but fluff in the KHL..
I rarely hear the organization discuss him, so I'm wondering where he stands?

Re: The Forgotten Prospect; Arseni Koromyslov
I don't know much about him but I do like that the Blues have some boom/bust Russian prospects:
- Matvei Korotky
- Nikita Susuyev
- Arseny Koromyslov
- Ivan Vorobyov
If one of them hits we are in awesome shape.

How would the Blues get him over here? Seems like its tough to get KHL younger guys to the AHL but i dont knowHockey Pete wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 13:21 pm Was on a Teams call with one of my closest friends (lives in Prague, and one of the best experts I know in KHL hockey), and he watched a lot of the KHL playoffs, particularly the KHL finals. It would be nice if he would come over to North America soon. Dream scenario might be that he is ready to slot in for Fowler if/when Cam declines. I'm sure Lindstein is viewed as ahead in development but never bad to have several young options battling for some of the same slots.

That's a good question, but to be honest I don't know if they need too... at least not next season.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 13:50 pmHow would the Blues get him over here? At the beginning of the season, I'm sure they (Blues) were hopeful that he'd finally stick in the KHL, he ends up getting traded twice (I'm glad he got out of the St. Petersburg, as they have a horrible record with playing kids), and he ends up landing on a top team and playing solid minutes. Then he turns into a top 4 for their championship run... WOW...
If I'm being honest, why not keep him on Traktor next season, as they're still going to be a top team. See what he looks like at the Prospect Camp this summer (he was at last years) and talk contract for the following season.

So how good is this production in the KHL? I don't follow this stuff that much but based on my limited knowledge that seems very good?Hockey Pete wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 14:02 pmThat's a good question, but to be honest I don't know if they need too... at least not next season.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 13:50 pmHow would the Blues get him over here? Do we have this player already in Tucker?

Sorry I should have been more clear, I know what his production is. My question is about how that translates and how common that is for a 21 year old in the KHL now days.
Re: The Forgotten Prospect; Arseni Koromyslov
I would love for us to draft Alexander Zharovsky this draft. definitely a sleeper.
Re: The Forgotten Prospect; Arseni Koromyslov
I think the styles are similar, but Koromyslov is much bigger and a better skater - ceiling is higher. Very intriguing prospect.

Re: The Forgotten Prospect; Arseni Koromyslov
Maybe, but to be top 4 in the KHL on a championship caliber team means you have to have some serious mobility (fast players and big ice), something Tucker doesn't possess.
https://thehockeywriters.com/arseni-kor ... t-profile/
The second video is his scouting video (same thing teams see in draft rooms), and it's fairly impressive. His hand/eye coordination is uncanny, as he steals a lot of pucks in his end (one fast stick). Also, very aggressive play (some bad but mostly good) in that video.
Looks like I'll be heading down on the Harley for the prospect camp in two weeks...
Re: The Forgotten Prospect; Arseni Koromyslov
Thanks for sharing. He's listed at 6'3 in this article, but 6'5 on eliteprospects. Perhaps he grew. I like his composure and quick thinking that allows him to get out of sticky situations. Appears very athletic. Seems like a legit prospect all things considered.Hockey Pete wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 00:50 amMaybe, but to be top 4 in the KHL on a championship caliber team means you have to have some serious mobility (fast players and big ice), something Tucker doesn't possess.

Wouldn't that be a pleasant surprise if he came to camp and stuck?

I'm sure the KHL season he just had elevated his status a bit with the Blues, as it should, I'm just wondering what their intentions are?zamadoo wrote: ↑18 Jun 2025 07:31 amThanks for sharing. To be honest, this kids situation has a Parayko feel to it. A tall lanky mobile defender who was drafted in a later round showing solid promise. He's not as big as Colton (few are), but there's no denying his mobility and his ability to play solid hockey at his current level.
IF they can get him to NA, being a Euro defender he'll need to demonstrate he can react quicker (play comes at you a bit faster on the smaller rink) and that he can make the same passes in tighter windows (again, rink size). If he can do that, then we have something...

He’s not forgotten by me. I’ve always liked him and thought he’d jump up our pool if he ever came over. Very excited to see he’ll be attending development camp. That’s an encouraging sign. Shows he’s at least interested in pursuing an NHL career.Hockey Pete wrote: ↑17 Jun 2025 13:21 pm Was on a Teams call with one of my closest friends (lives in Prague, and one of the best experts I know in KHL hockey), and he watched a lot of the KHL playoffs, particularly the KHL finals. He’s not ever really going to put up much of any offense but he’s big and I’ve always thought he had excellent gap control. He can be mean and nasty too. Maybe a Mikkola caliber player eventually? Hopefully a bit sooner than it took Mikkola to get there though.
Glad your friend likes him too. There was a discussion on Koromyslov over at HFBlues a few months ago and a Russian poster there said Arseni signed a 1 year extension through next season. So my guess is he’s considering coming over to N.A. after next season. But agree with you that would be just fine as he’s getting good minutes on a top team. And our Springfield D core is looking crowded already anyway.
But he’s certainly one to keep an eye on. Hoping some of you that are able to attend development cano can provide some good reports on how he looks. How he stacks up.
