Re: Men's National Team.
These are meaningless games - the Gold Cup (featuring Saudi Arabia) is just slightly more relevant, but not by much. The manager is working with the players that are available and trying new things.
That being said, this side appears to have all the makings of a classic first round knockout loss to Ghana.

Tell Alexi Lalas these games are meaningless.
Tell Clint Dempsey these games are meaningless
Tell Landon Donovan these games are meaningless.

The FIFA Club WC is the big tournament this summer. You couldn't tell several Americans to skip that.mjg wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 10:22 am These are meaningless games - the Gold Cup (featuring Saudi Arabia) is just slightly more relevant, but not by much. Somehow FIFA was able to come up with an even more pointless tournament (money grab, sports washing, etc...) with the Club World Cup. Does Landon Donovan or Clint Dempsey have any hot takes on that?winonsports wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 08:58 amThe FIFA Club WC is the big tournament this summer. Cristiano Ronaldo "I have many titles with clubs, but there's nothing better than winning for Portugal. [...] It's our nation, our people.
So Cristiano Ronaldo even at 40 was in tears when Portugal beat Spain in the Nations League Final.
Maybe Christian Pulisic and the rest of the USMNT could learn from him.

They have certainly quieted down since realizing what all is taking place.mjg wrote: ↑13 Jun 2025 11:45 amSomehow FIFA was able to come up with an even more pointless tournament (money grab, sports washing, etc...) with the Club World Cup. As for the Club WC, it's better than having the Confederations Cup

Re: Men's National Team.
So if US players cried more you think that would somehow translate into wins after the fact? Give it a couple years, FIFA might let us play in the UEFA Nations League. You’re barking up the wrong tree if you think flag waving or jingoistic appeals mean anything to me.Rosthol wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 17:54 pmStill no response from mjg.Rosthol wrote: ↑15 Jun 2025 09:23 amThis.

My point was Cristiano Ronaldo (at the age of 40) had a long season as well. He showed he cared by showing up and participating.
Pulisic shows he doesn’t care by not showing up to the Good Cup.
He doesn’t realize how important it is for the team to be together a year before the World Cup.
Now maybe they will go on a run and make the semi-finals.
But, maybe they don’t.
Which will be a bad look for him.
Clearly he doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him.
