The Oilers gave up a #1 draft pick for him at the deadline.
How many dmen with decent talent are on their 4th team by 29?
Walman isn’t great but only Detroit took a lopsided deal for him. The Blues clearly saw Leddy as an upgrade and San Jose got a nice deadline return.

Dmen with his skill set are rarely traded at all. He isn’t a top pairing guy but still has tools.

Combine that with some of his antics, I wouldn’t at all be surprised to learn his character is an issue.

Watching him get embarrassed by Marchand after the shitheel he’s been was awesome

Walman definitely is a talented guy, and I liked him when he was here, but he is a dumb player. Or lacks self control. Or maybe it’s both. Edmonton as a team has too many dumb players, while Florida plays a smart, disciplined game.

Edmonton is lucky to be in this series at all. A couple of lucky OT wins but otherwise getting dominated most of the series. It’s been fun to watch but Florida is the better and deeper team overall.

Evander Kane, Frank's calling you out! I feel sometimes like, with the ref's whistle being made of steel, Kane must be wearing magnets.

And whenever the refs just put away the whistle and "let 'em play", the more physical, more intimidating team always wins. Get ready for a handshake line and Cup presentation in Sunrise Tuesday.

I recall similar statements after game 3.
Don't write the Oilers obituary yet.

The Panthers have won the 3 previous series on the road.
They're 0-2 at home in elimination games. They were shutout in both of those games.

Florida lost game 6 at home to the Leafs after humiliating Toronto in game 5 in Ontario.
Deja vu on Tuesday?

The Panthers also had a chance to take out (sweep) the Canes at home but came up empty.

Doesn’t matter. They won both series.

I've already admitted I disliked Marchand for the wrong reasons, but he could still behave himself and become a respected person as well as a great player.

Marchand made material contributions to the Blues Cup. If he wants to win this one I'm neutral.

Florida also has several guys named Joe, but their Joe’s are more poised and seem more willing to perform the grinding and simple chores that drive possession and make for consistent scoring chances. And fewer unnecessary penalties.
Edmonton has some problems with Team Poise and Hockey IQ.
I think Knoblauch is doing pretty well with what he has to work with.

They have to be on their 'A' game....just about everything....to win a game.

Possible? Of course.

2 games likely? ummmmmmm.......I'll wait to tune in on that one.

I predicted Florida in 6 and that's what will happen.

However I will say, this is likely the last Stanley Cup for Florida for quite a while, they are aging and pricing out their depth.

Edmonton likely is done for a few years as well. The one advantage they have is the Pacific is just so weak currently that they are barely having to play much in the first 2 rounds.

It will be interesting to see what they do with McDavid, or what he does. Does he demand a trade, or sign what would essentially be a near retirement contract. They currently only have 6 players under contract for 2026-2027 and he isn't one of them.
